The Arch of Augustus at Aosta in Northern Italy. The arch was erected in 25 BC following the Roman victory over the Salassi - the local Gallic tribe. The victory led to the foundation of Augusta Praetoria Salassorum - modern day Aosta. 📸 My own. #RomanSiteSaturday #Aosta

Knole House, built in 1445, has 26 acres of gardens and 420 rooms. It’s been owned by the King Henry VIII and the family of Vita Sackville-West. Archaeologists knew that excavating the English manor would be a massive job—but an unmissable one.

There is nothing peaceful in a creed that calls for the death of non-believers, nor anything moral or virtuous in one that coerces submission and savagely punishes dissent. Such a system deserves no respect and no obedience. Resistance is a duty, and it must be eradicated from any society that values humanity. To tolerate the intolerant is to hand ourselves over to the barbarians.

@dotslondon @JeffreyRumney I’m impressed with your efforts.. they’re familiar to me as I worked with Edinburgh’s homeless people for nearly 30 years, although we had a bigger stream than you seem to have. Hanging on there

You couldn’t make this up.
Apologies for the delay in updates , this past week has been one of the toughest I’ve faced.
I took myself to stay in a temporary hotel known as TL for what was meant to be just 48 hours.
The plan was simple: focus on end-of-year charity accounts and catch up on ongoing urgent cases without distraction. But reality had other plans.
Within hours, everything changed.
What started as a quiet space to work turned into the frontline.
A domestic violence incident happened right in front of me , chaos, fear, and in the middle of it, a dog caught in the crossfire. That dog is now safe and in our care.
Another case , someone battling addiction and homelessness, struggling to hold on.
Another case in the TL where a gentleman staying in TL had a stroke and had a dog, I immediately arrange for the dog to come into our foster care after TL asked for assistance.
I’m also supporting a young man who is currently homelesss in the TL after family have paid for them to be here but sadly the young man has an acute drug misuse, I have engaged him with all services including drug services doctor, job Centre and an urgent referral to the housing, so I’m hoping tomorrow I can present him to the housing under a section 7.
Then an elderly resident, overwhelmed and alone, needing help just to navigate paperwork to help get a roof over their head. I stepped in where i could, because that’s what i /we do.
This was never meant to be part of the plan. But this is the reality of what i do.
I’m still here, as I’m Still working and supporting through each case.
I have also got the DV victim into an emergency detox and drop them there today is quite horrendous. The cases that are left in the TL especially when brought in via the council. I will need to do a fundraiser tomorrow as I need to support the victim with additional Rehab support and we’ve done a referral for a safe place as well as I have been working with the police and there is a DV protection order for her.
We step into crisis.
We stand in the gaps.
We do what others can’t or won’t.
More updates coming soon, case by case.
Thank you for your patience, your support, and for standing with us , especially when things get heavy.
This is the support. This is the reality. This is why we keep going.
In all honesty what should’ve been a 48 hours stay has been an absolute mentally exhausting one week stay, but I just can’t turn my back and walk away from these people, I will update more over the weekend on each case in full 🧡

@Supermicro And they want to dim the Sun because the ordinary person is creating too much global warming or climate change whatever they want to call it now. Please talk to Bill Gates and explain it's not the ordinary people it's your service centers. We need to figure out a way to cool it.

@scotland_w99 @StephenFlynnSNP Yeah- England should be independent- save us a fortune
English

@StephenFlynnSNP The smirk was so unprofessional, even for a day time TV presenter! "When Westminster rejects your request for a second referendum?" How dare they! Why don't England want independence? What are they holding on to the other three nations for? Too frightened to go it alone!
English

@campbellclaret You are literally the guy holding the flag.
You're just way too stupid to realise.
