@Menace_thakur i am curious, what about SteamOS as a daily driver? it seems: - stable - well-supported - based on arch - works on a variety of hardware - opinionated but not so aggressively works on steamdeck, rog ally, legion go s, and will soon have official ARM support for Steam Frame...

i thought omarchy was exactly what i needed. turns out, not so much. here’s what i ran into and why i’m going back to arch: the installer wipes your whole disk. you can’t set up your own partitions or keep another os. if you want dual boot, you have to use the terminal and do it all yourself. installer logs hard to find or unreadable if you want to debug installation problems. secure boot has to be off just to install it. if you’re switching between omarchy and windows, you’ll be going into bios every time. the installer and iso don’t like some usb drives. tried multi-boot and it failed for no reason. wi-fi setup is just weird. the enter key doesn’t work when selecting a network. you need to use tab and space. wi-fi sometimes breaks after sleep, and you have to fix it through the terminal. updates can ruin the install. mine froze during setup. some people said updates broke boot and left their laptops stuck. ssh is open by default and the firewall settings are weak. not ideal if you don’t know how to secure your system. there’s a bunch of bloat and random apps pre-installed. things i didn’t ask for. removing them takes time and they’re all over the place. apart from install headaches, omarchy’s user experience is often frustrating. it has weird ui behaviors, confusing default keybindings, and unpredictable app window management that makes day-to-day use harder than it needs to be. i tried giving it a chance, but it’s just too much of a mess. it’s not good for daily use, and definitely not for anyone who wants something clean and stable. i’m going back to arch where i can set things up properly.

I grew 200k insta followers in 5 months… Here are my key take aways: - Abuse trial reels (have gained me over 30k followers) - Study what works and copy (find viral videos in your niche and copy format) - Get that first win (took me 85 posts to get one viral one… keep going) - Hire an editor (I only spend 0,5h on average recording now) - Post daily (no more, no less) - Post for followers… not views (provide educational content if you want an audience that wants to learn…. not lambos) And most importantly: Understand that content is the cheat code to customers and great hires You’re fucked if you are not on those platforms

@levelsio RTX 5090 is generally more powerful for general purpose computation, but the tokens per second is more than enough on a high end mbp and it let's you do cool shit like vibe coding on an airplane

This is the most visited website in France. It makes Craigslist look like it was designed by Apple in California.

I stopped drinking tap water. Even in countries where they say it's "safe". I'm in France now and I've tried: - 1 week of tap water - 1 week of bottled water My forehead is full of pimples after the tap water week. And clean when I drink water bottles. I moved to a new Airbnb 600km away, same story. For now, I prefer microplastics and will get a reverse osmosis filter when (if) I buy a house.

@SCHIZO_FREQ Is there any good algorithmic engine where you can just tell it the music you listen to and it spits out recommendations *without* having to actually use Spotify? The downside of having a library of .mp3s is that finding new music is exceptionally difficult.

Streaming music is so cooked it's insane. Your phone has like a terabyte of storage and a 2tb ssd costs like 100 bucks Get soulseek, download the .flac of every album you've ever seen in your life, use VLD tramscode to 320 aac when you want it on your phone + return to hoarding

Framework: Remix JS. Why not Nextjs? 1) Nextjs has too much magic under the hood. 2) Nextjs is serverless-focused and therefore Vercel-focused. I do not want my SaaS to be dependent on Vercel. Why not nuxtjs/laravel/php/ror? SaaS means SPA. Not a blog, not a personal site. We are talking about a tech stack for SPA (web app). If you want to make an SPA you need a powerful frontend tool. You can't just use htmx or hotwire. Well, you can for a while. But every SPA at some point will require you to add some complex shit like calendars or editable tables with crazy filters. You want ready libs for that. What is the most popular front-end tool? React JS. ReactJS won. It is a fact. Not vue. React. So use React. Remix JS is built on top of reactjs. This is the main reason why I chose Remix JS.

The tech stack I'm using for my new SaaS. I spent weeks researching and testing each of them. I believe nothing can be better than this in 2024. 👇
