Retired. We are still stationary, but now we're in a blue state with four seasons. It's better here. I'm at Bluesky now, same handle.

@VolkerJes53874 @KurtSupeCPA Last time I had to go into SSA office, it took 2 hours on hold to speak to someone, and then a four month wait to go in. Once there, they were incredibly efficient, but it's difficult getting the appointment.

His Social Security check never arrived. Not late. Gone. Someone had already changed the direct deposit. To an account he had never seen. He had never set up an online account. Someone else did it for him. It took a congressional inquiry to get his money back. Zero income for a long time. He was 71 years old. Whether you are 42 or 82, your Social Security account needs to be locked down today. If you have older parents, do not wait for tomorrow. Do it with them today. Thread below shows you exactly how. 🧵👇

I'm in a lull on twitter without much visibility, so probably hardly anyone will see this, but here's an important thread on "why everyone's sick all the time". No, you are not imagining it. Sickness is increasing. Sickness absence rates are increasing.

Oracle is such a terrible, evil, slime company it borders some sort of twisted black comedy skit. During the beginning of the Trump administration Larry Ellison discussed building some sort of super-AI system and said it would create as much as 100,000 jobs in the United States Fast forward, March 2026, Oracle lays off 30,000 people. 30,000 people is an absolutely insane number. Oracle sent out at email at 6am to 30,000 people which were selected using some sort "selective process", which was a computer program, or something, I don't know. You go online and see people who have worked at Oracle for over 30 years being terminated. People who have had great reviews, sacrificed for the company, ... someone there was terminated and began working at Oracle in 1993. 1993 - 2026 and then terminated by a decision from a computer program while the United States economy is already sliding into the pisser, with inflation, housing crisis, government assistance cuts, gas prices raising, and companies creating hiring freezes Then today it's announced Oracle has put in H1B requests for approx. 3,000 employees from overseas What a fucking piece of shit fucking company.

@traceyh415 Yep, after reading about Ramsey Hunt syndrome, we got it done. After all the horror stories from people about the terrible aftermath, it was nothing. Pneumonia shots were worse. YMMV. But yes, get thee to the pharmacist.

@emilykmay Have you considered a Justice of the Peace, or an ordained friend in the back yard? It hurts me to see young people spend that much money on weddings. What ever you decide, I hope it's wonderful.

@GLandsbergis Heavier weapons need to be equipped with countermeasures. Something that scans the environment and destroys incoming threats. I think this is doable, but it will take time to develop.

What the CEO of Rheinmetall said was insulting — yes, shortsighted — yes, but what is more worrying — his words can actually be deadly. In my country, Rheinmetall is a major contractor — tanks, Skyrangers, an ammunition factory, etc. But what is more interesting is that questions about our preparedness for a potential drone war were always drowned in a flood of arguments very similar to Mr. Papperger’s. The military establishment, lobbyists, experts — the whole lot — were telling our people that this drone thing is just a fad which will soon go away. And we should be focusing on legacy war fighting, and therefore legacy equipment. It lead to the acknowledgment that we have almost no ability to detect and to fight the Russian drones. So maybe relying solely on the military advice from a company selling one kind of equipment wasn’t such a brilliant idea. I just hope that by now we know where we went wrong, and we will find sufficient humility to ask for assistance elsewhere. And I sincerely hope that the Ukrainian housewives will share their deadly knowledge with us.

Michael & Rebecca
Michael & Rebecca@Michaeljos92972·
Her Closet, Their Kingdom. by Michael Whelan I always knew Rebecca loved our dogs and cats. I just didn’t realize she was secretly running a full-blown fashion empire out of our house. Kendall and I have been on a mission—cleaning and simplifying the house all week. Room after room after room. I’m keeping all of Rebecca's stuff that 'moves' me… and letting go of the clutter. Downsizing! Today? Today was dog and cat day. We opened her drawers in our bedroom and I swear to you… the drawers illuminated like the suitcase from Pulp Fiction. That glow. That mystery. That “what in God’s name is inside here?” moment. We braced ourselves. Not a few sweaters. Not a couple of cute outfits. No. We found… inventory. Bins. Stacks. Layers. I’m pretty sure one of the cats had been appointed Creative Director. Now here’s the kicker— Rebecca was one of the most beautiful dressers I’ve ever known. Effortless. Elegant. The kind of woman who made everything look like it belonged on a runway. So naturally… she extended that same standard to our four-legged kids. Kendall held up outfit number 37. “Brunch or black tie?” she asked. “Both,” I said. “Rebecca didn’t believe in casual.” Final count? 124 outfits. One hundred and twenty-four. At 11:00 tonight, I am now washing tiny jackets, sweaters, and what I’m convinced is a formal cape for a Chihuahua who had zero interest in fashion. And somehow— I’m laughing. Through tears, I’m laughing. Because every ridiculous, perfect outfit is Rebecca. Pure style. Pure love. Purr her. We’re donating most of it to the animal rescue. So somewhere in Orlando, very soon… there are going to be some outrageously well-dressed dogs and cats. And Rebecca? Oh, she’s smiling. Because finally… the neighborhood is going to be dressed appropriately.

BREAKING 🇺🇸vs 🇪🇺 👀 Europe sent $750 million to US to support Ukraine with weapons from U.S. The Pentagon now plans to use that money to refill U.S. weapons stockpiles instead. (Most likely because of the war in Middle East) Even U.S. officials admit it’s unclear if European countries fully understood where the money would actually go. WTH is going on here?

I’m about to get married, and my fiancé knows I have an inheritance that was left to me by my grandparents. It’s in my name only, and I’ve been saving it for years. Now he’s saying that before we get married, I should put the entire inheritance into a joint account so we can “start fresh together,” or he doesn’t think we should go through with the wedding. I’m 36 already and this is something my family worked hard to leave me. I’m torn between wanting to build a life together and feeling like I’m being pressured to give up something important to me. What do you think I should do? By isitmeaitah

Cuba is experiencing nationwide blackouts, and clinicians have requested N95s. I will donate a dollar for every RT this gets in the next hour. MAKE ME PAY. James is organizing a fundraiser. Venmo: James-Ray-24

If anyone wants to help I spent a few hours talking to medical students in Havana today who work at a hospital who said they need N95s or equivalents desperately. I’ve already worked with someone to secure 5,000 masks but 40,000 supplies their entire hospital staff for a year.

@courtneyellis If a person is already paying $5,000 a year, why are sick visits extra. Are you charging $5K just for a couple of well visits? This seems like a really bad business plan.
