I have been told that insurance companies are using the IV fluid shortage as an excuse to deny hospitalizations, saying that since patients are only receiving oral fluids (due to shortage), they don’t need to be in the hospital. This sounds very believable. Anybody seeing this?

@DGlaucomflecken Have had to switch patients from iv to oral antibiotics and then patients are told they no longer are approved for hospitalization by insurance. Not directly but in a roundabout way, yes.

I’ve said before, but just for the record, I’ll say it again: 1. Anyone whose USMLE score was invalidated cheated. Math works - and the numbers don’t lie. 2. Anyone who cheated on the USMLE ought to have their score invalidated - regardless of where they live.

38 year old male with h/o residency

Man it really bothers me when people label certain specialty residency programs as “easy.” All it does is invalidate any mental/physical challenges trainees may have, and it’s just flat out wrong.

@cmhughesmd @pppforpatients Actually that was congress. AMA has been trying to increase funded residency spots but its congress who gives the funding.

@pppforpatients How about just more vets? The AMA strangled the supply of physicians for decades and got us mid-levels, just to protect income levels. Let's open more vet schools.

Dear @TheFSMB @ECFMG_IMG @DrHankChaudhry Very painful to hear people say "Everyone outside the U.S. has the #USMLE questions" today from multiple IMGs. Please, Please re-write exam to restore its integrity.

@jbcarmody I think call should be required but the focus on step 2 scores makes it difficult to defend as a medical institution.
