I would rather have successful wealthy Cabinet members for a number of reasons:
1. They are not going to be there for years, they have businesses to run.
2. They know how to make things run efficiently.
3. They don't need to steal from the govt or taxpayers like others, they are already wealthy.
4. They are tough to payoff for favors, money isn't a factor.
English

Ossoff: Trump’s cabinet is worth like $60 billion. That’s not even including Elon. They are literally the elites they pretend to hate.
The President is not at his palace in Florida thinking about whether you can afford daycare or how to stop insurance companies from denying you claim or anything that matters to our daily lives.
English

@2136279841m1 @jerryfatherof5 @SenSanders You didn’t, because it’s not. Healthcare is commonly an emergency service and therefore a common good.
English

@sasser1788 @jerryfatherof5 @SenSanders I explained that the life expectancy is not lower.
I also explained that the cost is comparable once you factor in corresponding increase in taxation.
I’ve lived under 4 different healthcare systems: 3 well funded public European + private in US. US hands down the best.
English

@2136279841m1 @jerryfatherof5 @SenSanders Lower life expectancy and leading cause of bankruptcy are not better outcomes.
English

Not sure why I am replying as the hopes of converting a socialist are low. But here goes.
I speak from experience. I lived in 4 different western countries. 3 had public healthcare systems. US healthcare system beats any of the other countries by a massive margin in terms of outcomes, quality, research and access especially once you factor in wait times. Cost is comparable or less once you factor in difference in taxation.
Fire departments, police, etc - as has been explained ad nauseam are public goods.
Here is a good explanation:

@Oranos8310 @MansaChief @KangaMage @getnickwright How am I doing that? I think DEI policies are good when following the pure intent.
English

@AzIndividualist @KangaMage @getnickwright Yea, equity acknowledges the needs of those with disabilities. You’re trying to spin it to mean affirmative action.
English

@sasser1788 @KangaMage @getnickwright That's equality. DEI explicitly rejects equality in favor of equity, often at the group level.
Equality focuses on individuals, & thus prioritizes merit.
Equity focuses on pie charts, & thus discriminates to meet arbitrary quotas (usually w/ post hoc justifications like yours).
English

@sasser1788 @MansaChief @KangaMage @getnickwright How would you hire exclusively white males without discrimination?
English

@_PrezDez_ @KangaMage @getnickwright If their process doesn’t discriminate, then sometimes that’s just the way the cookie crumbles.
English

@sasser1788 @KangaMage @getnickwright Would it be ok for there to be an All-White white owned business that exclusively hired white people or would that be racist?
English

@Oranos8310 @MansaChief @KangaMage @getnickwright As long as the job postings or interviewed candidates did not have forms of discriminating for race then that is correct. Everything else is political rhetoric.
English

@MansaChief @sasser1788 @KangaMage @getnickwright That makes no sense.
So if a company hires exclusively white males, that is DEI as long as the considered hiring without discriminating?
English

@sasser1788 @KangaMage @getnickwright That is the IDEA of DEI
The application of DEI doesnt work this way
English

@sootkoos @BSaarX @getnickwright @JeffPassan Yea, white men are favored. This has been reproduced in multiple studies. Even just taking generalizations based on names that are associated with people of color.
English

@sasser1788 @BSaarX @getnickwright @JeffPassan If this is true then why would it be needed at all? There has to be some favor to race or otherwise DEI would serve no purpose
English

No, Jackie Robinson was hired based on merit. Saying he was a DEI hire is a disgrace. He was an MVP player that belonged in the league. That's the point that you and @JeffPassan are missing. You two are so stuck on the language that you miss the point of telling the Jackie Robinson story as an American and not a policy agenda . That to me is the real racism. You two not understanding the value of Robinson as an AMERICAN
English

@KangaMage @getnickwright You are the one that doesn’t understand what DEI policies mean. They mean hiring the most qualified based on merit and not based on race or skin color.
English

@getnickwright Jackie Robinson was NOT a DEI hire Nick. You are not that stupid, I know.
He was the opposite of such a hire: he was overqualified and had to overcome racial barriers. He was not an underqualified person hired to fulfill a racial or sexual quota.
English

@JonahDispatch Not great, but was this before or after the former VP nominee took delight in Telsa's recent price slump?
English

@JonahDispatch normally I would frown on this. But give the terrorism going on it's
ore a moral support thing.
English

@MKBHD Well you lost my follow, bye. Elon is an American hero.
English

@MKBHD I was giving you the benefit of the doubt because usually I like your takes, but this is attention seeking behavior and you’re trying to dunk on Tesla. You are about to lose many viewers and followers. If a tech enthusiast doesn’t recognize the best tech then whats he worth?
English

@nightwatchman76 @njso18 @fredrickshouse @esjesjesj A trans women who goes into their own stall and minds their own business? No, not at all. But I see your goalpost moving.

@AdamSinger Especially true for life expectancy. We know more about diet and exercise than our parents did at our age.
English

@sasser1788 You are mostly powerless over this except for yourself. "We cannot change the wind we can only adjust the sails"
