We need real action from the US government against any attempts to control the speech practices of American companies. And frankly, I’d like to see us throw our weight around to push back on European countries’ internal censorship as well. The entire West should have free speech.

If there's a bad jobs report and the BLS head is providing color commentary (they shouldn't, fwiw!) you want a guy who is good at finding the silver linings (there are always some), not a guy who makes trivial analytic errors.

I want to emphasize how much this nomination doesn't serve the Trump administration.
I can imagine a hacky BLS head who uses his position to influence economic narratives and improve the perception of the Trump economy.
Someone who makes goofy errors is *less* capable of that.
