@LessGrumpy I have my Grandma's butter knife and potato masher, both at least 80 years old, butter knife used daily and cherished as she passed 30 years ago.

When we were clearing my mum’s house I grabbed a few of these knives. Made in Sheffield. Probably originally from my grandmother’s house and dating from late 1930s. And never was there a finer device for spreading butter.

Congratulations to Merchant Taylors' pupil Charley and her dog Patti for their fantastic performance in the Young Kennel Club competitions at Crufts, last week 🐶🏆 Charley shone in the Young Kennel Club Groom Through competition, securing 2nd place in her age group. Charley and Patti also performed excellently in the Hound Stakes too, handling with confidence and precision and performing really well in a class of 16 with handlers aged up to 24 years old. Well done, Charley and Patti! 👏

@charliersmith1 Happy Birthday Charlie's Grandad. Having your Grandparents around in adulthood is fantastic. I miss mine everyday but have wonderful memories of their support and love.

@MichaelRosenYes This is so important that it isn't forced. I'm an avid reader, but my daughter isn't. I've never pushed other than the mandatory reading in school. She's just asked for a series of books that have recently been dramatised as she wants to read them before watching the box set.

Later this term, I'll be talking to our PGCE students at Goldsmiths about children's books. We'll discuss why children might or might not think that reading books for pleasure is worth doing, and why schools might or might not think that reading books for pleasure is worth doing.
