“Captain Out”
I’ve logged all my hours, I’ve ticked every box,
Survived dodgy weather and stubborn gear locks.
No more early check-ins or hotel alarms,
No more wing flex or TCAS alarms.
I’ve danced with the jetstream, I’ve tangled with fog,
I’ve taxied through tempests and landed in bog.
I’ve flown with the best and endured a few clowns,
And smiled through delays while the APU frowns.
I’ve done my time soaring, I’ve earned every stripe,
No more crew meals disguised as “hot tripe.”
No chart updates now, no NOTAMs to read—
Just peace, and a lawn, and a mower with speed.
So raise up a glass to the life I once led—
With my boots off, my feet up, and no weight on my head.
The jet’s in the hangar, the headset’s hung stout…
This captain is finished—Now kindly… clear out.

Congratulations to Merchant Taylors' pupil Charley and her dog Patti for their fantastic performance in the Young Kennel Club competitions at Crufts, last week 🐶🏆
Charley shone in the Young Kennel Club Groom Through competition, securing 2nd place in her age group. Charley and Patti also performed excellently in the Hound Stakes too, handling with confidence and precision and performing really well in a class of 16 with handlers aged up to 24 years old.
Well done, Charley and Patti! 👏

@charliersmith1 Happy Birthday Charlie's Grandad. Having your Grandparents around in adulthood is fantastic. I miss mine everyday but have wonderful memories of their support and love.

The Suspect is out today in paperback, and I’m so pleased @whsmithofficial have chosen it for their Richard & Judy Book Club once again! Junior barrister Adam Green is back with a new case – when the UK’s favourite breakfast TV presenter dies live on air, all evidence points to one culprit: celebrity chef Sebastian Brooks. But the case is not quite as open and shut as it first seems… Can Adam uncover the truth? You can pick up a copy of #TheSuspect now wherever you buy your books. Happy reading!

@MichaelRosenYes This is so important that it isn't forced. I'm an avid reader, but my daughter isn't. I've never pushed other than the mandatory reading in school. She's just asked for a series of books that have recently been dramatised as she wants to read them before watching the box set.
