🇩🇪🇳🇱 Germany and the Netherlands have signed a new contract worth 4.5 billion euros for the delivery of 222 new Schakal infantry fighting vehicles — 150 for Berlin and 72 for Amsterdam. The Schakal IFV is a hybrid combining the mobility of an 8x8 wheeled platform with the firepower of tracked IFVs: it is equipped with a combat module featuring a 30mm automatic cannon, advanced digital systems, and presumably enhanced protection compared to the standard Boxer APC. All vehicles will use the latest, or rather already modified, APC model as a base, which will become the common standard for all participating countries in the program, not only significantly enhancing the combat capability of the new vehicles but also simplifying maintenance and logistics across Europe.
