This is a reduction from the previous CBA, which permitted 7-year and 8-year contracts

Seems likely they will, but if they don't... or when Tortorella's gone... it would be hilarious if the entire league blackballed them from talking to any former coaches still under contract. FWIW, I expect @GoldenKnights will get their 2nd round pick back if they show some fealty and travel to New York next week to meet with Bettman and Daly. But the message has been sent and it's a good one: NHL popularity is surging. Freezing out coverage is counterintuitive.

While I find the BerubeOut profile picture funny, I think it's actually counterproductive to what fans think they're going to accomplish. If the organization gives in now they're telling the fans that they can hold the team hostage anytime they want with a social media campaign. The organization is never going to look at this moment and think to themselves, "why didn't we think of this? These fans are right!" Instead, they're more likely to hunker down into their decision to keep the coach.
