@McFranchisee @mcdonald There was a time when a HVAC guy I knew converted his work vans to bio diesel and he filtered our used oil for his work vans. He would bring the nasty ass oil he got from a local Chinese joint and put it in our trap. He added more than he took, s9 we made $ off it.

Cool restaurant tech:
RTI started back in ’99. @McDonald’s was one of their first big customers, and by 2006 they had it in about 40% of all US McD’s & won Supplier of the Year.
Changing fryer oil the old way is straight up nasty. Hot, heavy, slippery, dirty, and dangerous. Tons of burns and liability.
With this closed loop setup:
• Fresh oil gets pumped from the truck into a 1000 lb tank in the back which is hooked up to the fryers.
• Used oil gets pumped out into the big yellow grease tank in back.
• When the RTI truck shows up, it drops off new oil and sucks out the old stuff at the same time.
Super clean. No more lugging 35 lb jugs, no spilling everywhere, no gross smelly grease corral.
We’ve also have separate trap for just for burger grease so it doesn’t go down the drain. All used oil (including hamburger grease). gets picked up, we actually get paid for it, and they turn it into anything from biodiesel to cosmetics. Pretty slick. Video in comments.
Just think next time you are putting on makeup, one of the ingredients could be from my restaurant 😂.

@WestLoopTom Lettuce Entertain You is such an under appreciated restaurant group. They are so good at what they do that people take them for granted. I remember in High School hitting up Hat Dance and Scoozi and thinking just how amazing they were.

@WestLoopTom I come from the Chicago style thin crust world, but I do like to indulge in Labriola deep dish when I go there. Chicagoans can say what they want about deep dish, but it is objectively really good there.
English

@WestLoopTom Coming from that business, I just know how much food you have to sell to cover that nut. I have been going to his Oak Brook place since day one, and the food is always very good.

@pipaloo_ Might not buff out! That location on Michigan Ave is gigantic. The Michigan Ave menu is way bigger than over here as well.
English

@WestLoopTom Somewhat, as there was a divorce mixed in there at one point. 🤣
English

@pipaloo_ Yeah for sure but he’s playing with house money after the bakery sale.

@stinkfacejerm It is suck bullshit that people have come to accept this behavior as ok. I do not want to sound like a shrinking violet, but when you have your kid with you and have to drive into the pot smoke from the people ahead of you sucks.

@TheStingisBack I wish … you had … more time. One of Denzel’s best line deliveries ever.

@WestLoopTom We need to bring back saying that things are “fair to midland.”

@MichaelKudrna Check out InTouch POS. They are independent and bend over backwards to customize the system to your needs. Reach out if you would like more info.

Restaurant POS companies used to compete on features
Now they compete on how quickly they can lock you into their payment processor
Toast, Square, Clover. All the same play
Buzz Word Hooks: "Free hardware" "Low monthly fee" "Easy setup"
Pick your buzz word trap. Cheap terminals or expensive subscriptions... either way, you're paying 2.9% + $0.30 on every transaction. To them. Forever. Non-negotiable
You can't shop rates. You can't bring your own processor. You signed away that leverage when you plugged in their terminal
Shift4 just bought Revel for $250 million. Revel was one of the last processor agnostic options. Want to guess what happens next?
This is the restaurant tech model now...
Give away the POS. Own the payments. Make margin on every swipe until you close or die
I use SpeedLine. It's good, not great. It doesn't have the latest features, but do I need them? What it does is it lets me choose my own processor. I negotiate my own rates. That saved me THOUSANDS this year alone and we're just starting Q2.
Most owners don't even know this is an option.
They think "that's just what credit card processing costs"
No. That's what captivity costs
If you have the ability to switch merchant processors, I have a top notch referral for you. Just DM me

@Dice_Says I open the pool in March just so I can have those 3-5 extra days of pool use early in the season. I was living today like it was summer, even though it is dropping into the 50s this weekend. Live it up! Every day counts.

@WestLoopTom @TeamGumball5 If he had a bus, it would have a lot more flair.

@Catholicizm1 The problem is that when hiring female officers became a thing there would have been no hesitation to pulling the firearm first and using it if necessary. That was the equalizer. I feel like it is almost frowned upon for officers to ever use their gun.
