As Turkish and Greek people, the overwhelming majority of us DO NOT WANT WAR. More than 100 years ago, imperialist powers pitted these two nations, who had lived together for 1000 years, sharing their bread, their bulgur, their onions, their hunger, poverty, and wealth, against each other. As a result, thousands of people died on both sides. Yes, there are still political problems between these two countries today. But we must clearly acknowledge that these are FAMILY MATTERS. They are NOT anything more than a father's two sons having problems with each other. Are the Greeks my enemies? Why? Because their religion and language are different? Is it because I call it cacık and they call it tzatziki? We are capable of solving our own problems, and that's what we will do. The Turks and the Greeks both received and shared much culturally. If I asked a Greek person what their favorite food was, they might say moussaka, beans, or baklava. If you ask me, I'd say lakerda, fava beans, or bonito. We are like two different lights emitting from the same lamp. Of course, in both countries there are fanatical warmongers. But sensible Turkish and Greek people don't want such tension. WE DON'T WANT A FRATRICIDAL WAR. No politician will be able to turn brother against brother for their own interests. Αν με ρωτάτε, θα έλεγα λακέρδα, φάβα ή παλαμίδα. Είμαστε σαν δύο διαφορετικά φώτα που εκπέμπονται από την ίδια λάμπα. Φυσικά, και στις δύο χώρες υπάρχουν φανατικοί πολεμοκάπηλοι. The Greek military is the most underrated in the world. The beacon of bravery and hope during WW2. This is Greece now, have you ever heard the stories of what Greece did to Nazi Germany? Hitler was apologizing for thinking the true Greek DNA was dead, and battling that warrior spirit. and that was barely after coming out of Ottoman rule.
