Yesterday marked the 10-year anniversary of Bitmap Bureau’s formation! 🥳 We’d never have guessed back then where this journey would take us: Xeno Crisis (and its plethora of ports 😉), Battle Axe, Final Vendetta, Terminator 2D: NO FATE, with He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction in the works! It’s been quite a ride since 2016 as our small team grew over the years, adding so many incredibly talented and passionate people all working hard towards the same goal: making quality arcade-style games that feel timeless. Thank you to all the fans who have supported us over the last ten years, and here’s to ten more!

Just sad news today hearing about Bluepoint Games closing. I feel for my friends who worked there. They produced best-in-class remasters and remakes that made videogames better. Under Sony they were mismanaged and released nothing. Set up for failure. What a waste.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hideki Sato, who served as President of SEGA from 2001 to 2003. SEGA would like to offer its condolences to his family and friends. Starting his career with the development of arcade machines, Mr. Sato was instrumental in the development of iconic home consoles, including the SG-1000, SC-3000, Mega Drive/Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast. His leadership helped lay the foundation of SEGA, and his contributions had a significant and lasting impact on the entire gaming industry. We will always remember his contributions to our company, and all of us at SEGA extend our deepest condolences as we honor his memory.

@AIandDesign Hi Marco! :) No, As the art-director I initialy did most of the main designs and a lot of the artwork and animation work but we had several other talented artists and animators working on the project. The number of animation frames on this project was insane.

Continuing on our journey backwards, next is FixEight. This game is very similar to OutZone design wise, but OutZone was made for the Toaplan 1 platform. This is a 3 player game. Board wise, the cpu is setup very similar to Truxton 2 which we also did previously for the Toaplan 2 platform, except this game uses a V25 for sound like the other games I showed, Batsugun and Dogyuun. Nothing remarkable about the sound setup there. The most annoying part about the setup is the extra text layer. There are these mosaic effects that are created to transition the screens, and the way the text rom is unpacked is a bit weird. I guess they only had 16 bit memory chips, and they write it in 8 bit, but in 16 bit mode. Meaning, out of the 68k the way it is wired, bit 1 is in fact the byte, and bit 2 is the word. bit 0 is always 0 in the 68k due to addressing. I remembered I did this for Truxton 2 long ago, and used the same setup here. The video is a current WIP, speed needs to be fixed a bit across all the games currently in the next phase. Usually, I will go through and make all the components functional first, then we will work on polish overall. #CoinOpCollection #Toaplan
