Elon Musk has 6.5 MILLION times more wealth than the typical American. It’s time for a wealth tax — billionaires must pay their fair share.

Bernie, asshole that you are, be honest for once, to pay your 5% wealth tax they would have to liquidate assets, and after they do that they will owe a capital gains tax. Not to mention the downward pressure it will put on the market when every billionaire is having to sell off millions to billions in stocks. So they have to pay a tax on their tax. In cases like Elon Musk, under thst 5% tax he would owe roughly $42 billion for his current net worth, but when he liquidates $42 billion he will owe another $8.4 billion in capital gains tax. So he would really have to liquidate roughly $52 billion to pay the wealth tax and the capital gains. Selling off $52 billion is going to drive the value of Tesla stocks down and his overall net worth down. These mandatory sales would dilute Musk’s voting power, eventually making it impossible for him to maintain majority control of his companies. Forcing billions of dollars in stock sales every year would destabilize the markets and harm everyday investors who own the same stocks. This "modest" 5% punishes founders for the success of their companies. It is clearly designed to force the loss of company control and voting rights because, as opposed to actually being modest. It is a confiscatory rate that can potentially exceed annual returns. Reign in government spending and the rampant fraud that you are presently ignoring before trying to reallocate wealth.

Ok, Jamie: Let me clear things up for you. If my 5% wealth tax on billionaires was enacted you’d owe $135 million more in taxes & a family of 4 making $150,000 or less would receive a $12,000 payment. Oh, and you’d still be worth more than $2.5 billion. Seems pretty fair to me.

If you make under $184k, you pay a 12.4% Social Security tax rate. Everything after that cap is exempt from the tax. So if you make $1 million per year, you pay about 2.2%. And it's 0.002% for billionaires. If we lifted the cap, Social Security could be funded for decades.
