When you get married the house will likely become marital property; whether or not their name is attached to it. Their interest in it will not begin until the date you are married. For instance, if you were to be married tomorrow and divorced exactly 5 years later, their interest in it would be 50% of the equity invested in that 5 year period, as opposed to 50% of the entire equity in the home. If you want to be secured you can set a prenup defining your money and properties prior to marriage, but without a prenup it should normally split like this
