Another horrific bill from the Colorado legislature. HB26-1335 would force colleges to provide abortion “medication” on campus. The Democrat legislators are quick to carve out the religious exemption these days to avoid any Supreme Court challenge.

The "prophetic office" of the pastor, regarding addressing civil authorities, is not a political act but spiritual judgment. You, the congregant, must follow up with political action. It is too easy for us to think that, in hearing the prophetic act, we're taking part in some political act. It has a pacifying effect: we think we're somehow being political in that moment. And then we can go home and sit on the couch. "That evil politician really got it good this morning." No, he doesn't care; he's not going to download the sermon from the church website. It's on you to be political.

“A Christian culture is one in which identifying as Christian is ‘normal,’ and civil and social instruments promote conformity to biblical morality and patterns of thought.”
James R. Wood@jamesrwoodtheo

in this month's issue of @firstthingsmag I have an essay on the idea of "cultural Christianity" -- what it means, what it doesn't, and how it relates to conversion/evangelism, hypocrisy, and the public good

“Boys need to be needed more than they need to be loved, or they need to be loved by being needed. It is indispensable to them that they should be dispensable, that is, needed to be spent up, for the women they love and the land they would protect, and, in the end, the faith they would affirm.” — @AnthonyEsolen

Interesting piece from @juliadyost and a similar analysis to what I wrote about at @AmReformer last year. The return to oral culture does seem to have made Catholicism more appealing for younger generations. But Protestants are more equipped for the shift than most think.

We’re entering a postliterate age. That’s why image-rich Catholicism is trending and text-based Protestantism isn’t. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2026/…
