The digital economy is becoming East Africa’s new gold mine. Youth participation is rapidly growing in Kenya, Rwanda, & Uganda through content creation, & online trade. If the EAC invests in it, technology, digital infrastructure, & innovation, regional trade will expanded.

This is a valuable opportunity for cross-border collaboration; however, the apparent lack of deliberate positioning of young people as active drivers is concerning. Without structured youth involvement, the future impact may be constrained.

The Regional Validation Workshop on the EAC Artificial Intelligence Strategy has officially kicked off this morning in Kampala Uganda. The meeting is being co-convened by the EAC @jumuiya, and EASTECO, with support from @eacgiz under the EAC AI Alliance Programme. The two-day workshop brings together key stakeholders from across the region to review, refine, and validate the EAC Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2026–2031). This milestone engagement follows extensive regional consultations in all EAC Partner States and marks a critical step toward establishing a harmonized, inclusive, and forward-looking AI framework for the region. Over the next two days, participants from government, academia, research institutions, and the private sector will work collectively to shape a Strategy that will guide the responsible adoption of AI, strengthen regional collaboration, and unlock innovation-driven growth across East Africa.

Nigeria cannot function without regular, credible elections, but introducing or strengthening the use of referendums for key national decisions could deepen democracy and reduce political tension.

Today, the ES, @ncasiimwe, participated in the validation meeting for the EAC AI Strategy(2026-2031). Language must be recognized as strategic infrastructure. Further, emphasis must be placed on Kiswahili, which is increasingly gaining global prominence. @easteco1 @jumuiya

@CyrilRamaphosa Mr President, Africa Month reminds us we are one people. Yet incidents affecting Ghanaians trouble this vision. A house divided cannot stand. What concrete steps will you take to guarantee safety, respect, & true African solidarity for all nationals within South Africa today?

Dear Fellow South African,   Every May, we observe Africa Month to commemorate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in 1963. Celebrating and affirming our identity as Africans is as integral to our national character as the ideals that anchor our democracy. 🔗 shorturl.at/3NYGb
