Cuba is 90 miles off the coast of the US. It was logistically impossible for Spain to have won that war. Then a wealthy 75% white island turned into a communist hellhole, and you didn’t bother to mount a proper invasion. Part of the plan, I guess. Great imperialist job 👍🏻

@plem6127 @_glorianas Spain wasn't really a global power. Used as a bargain chip in the napoleonic wars and the replacement of the government + colonies revolting made them a secondary power much more akin to any of the Italian states at the time.

@Midgetfucked @_glorianas Ehh the us was pretty close to a major power, it had a rapidly growing economy and a modern navy as well as expanded industry. Spain was still recognized as a global power. I don’t agree with that argument that for a war to be major a major power has to be involved at all.

But a global power truly leading up to ww1 rather than the end of the spanish American war. It is an important war historically yes. But it was not a major war. No major power was invovled

@plem6127 @_glorianas The Europeans won the suez crises (or at worst a draw). The goal was to get the suez no longer nationalized. Israel took the Sinai peninsula at the end of the war, and the suez was no longer nationalized. How can you lose a war and your allies gain land?
