Fun fact! The reason you saw all those old quarterbacks is because they bring back the winners every 15 years for a fight to the death.

@dadabots I mean, @Bandcamp is probably one of the most anti-human companies I can think of. You know, with all the union-busting and whatnot. Bampcamp's position smells like hypocrisy. I wished it smelled like Nirvana instead. youtube.com/watch?v=FklUAo…

> Nuance has entered the discussion The irony of the “pro-art therefore anti-ai” discourse is how eager it is to rally FOR the soul . . .and how little it licks the nuance of the soul As artists, this is the real job description: Soul licker. Whoever’s licking the soul the tastiest is the artist in the room. We’ve heard similar “pro art” discourse across the board from UMG to the RIAA, to our favorite platform Bandcamp, to the timeline pundits and YouTubers, to the punks in different cities. I appreciate the attempt. But where’s the licking? All I taste is black-and-white thinking that is blunt, reactionary & still stuck. It’s much worse; it hasn’t just stopped seeing into the abyss, it has stopped noticing those who do. This is why the AI music bans are good. They will help unstuck us & the soul searching will progress. Same with any upset- after having your feelings validated, you are ready to receive another perspective. It’s human. We’ll end up on the same page eventually. AI asks more questions about art than it gives answers. So ask more questions. Dadaists were asking questions 100 years ago. Hbu?
Holly Herndon@hollyherndon

producer x becomes virtuosic with models. He can’t sing or play a traditional instrument so well but like all great producers searches for what he needs to hear and spends months producing a 4 track ep of a new sound. producer y learns on YouTube how to make generic beats from sample packs and pushes out a few a day Whose art is more human and whose art do you want to hear? A lazy assumption with ai is that the laziest people use it, and the most dedicated people use traditional tools that is silly why wouldn’t humans thirsty for new sounds use models that let you infinitely rabbit hole on creating sounds? Are software developers running claude code agents lazy or insatiable? I am insatiable. I want more sounds and opportunities to cut and mutate and intervene

@hollyherndon @german_sierra What a cop-out. AI is an enormous money grab pushed by the richest & greediest tech moguls on the planet. If they could eliminate all human artists so 100% of profits go to them, they'd gladly do so. Those who use AI have been conned. Period.

It is necessary to filter soundspam and getting the language right for a policy like this is hard When they say that music "generated wholly or in substantial part by AI" is not welcome, that is understandable in the case of a bot posting 1000 generic songs a day. That is a spam issue. I am also compelled to push back against banning human artists for experimenting with an era defining medium

@Bandcamp So AI is where you draw the line? But apparently "singers" who are entirely dependent on pitch correction software and routinely present essentially fake vocal performances is totally fine, though? We're supposed to "trust" those performances? Absolute nonsense.

We’re articulating our approach to generative AI so musicians can keep making music and fans can trust the music they find on Bandcamp. blog.bandcamp.com/2026/01/13/kee…

@Grimezsz Water is an amazing shield for radioactivity. So, technically, I think washing it would help. Though I'm not sure HOW LONG you would have to wash it for.

And so it begins. This is a sad day when the people feel so betrayed by their own leaders, that they feel this is the only way back to sanity. PLEASE America, wake up before it is too late. What is happening in Europe WILL come here. It doesn’t have to be this way. THIS WILL NOT END WELL. It never does.

In Ireland, a new group called 'New Republican Movement' has claimed that local representatives are "legitimate targets". Mass immigration and indoctrination of children in schools are cited as reasons for these "legitimate targets".

Hey guys, is it normal for a country’s leader to gather a room full of its entire top brass and say they need to wage war against their own citizens? If only history offered even a single other documented example to hint as to how that might end.
