Nathan MacKinnon was only the 6th player ever to score 97+ points at even strength. And he wasn't voted as a finalist for Most Outstanding player (Ted Lindsay award). I'm stunned.

Jamie Benn just crossed checked a guy in the head (second of two cross checks) and he gets 2 mins and Hartman gets 2 for unsportsmanlike. The officiating in this league continues to be a joke and has a massive influence on results…..

Job done by the Avs; series was much closer than a sweep but we found a way to pull it out. Makar, Lehky and Wedgewood the 3 stars of the series by a long shot. I guess you might say the playoffs start now.
Respect to Anze Kopitar for an incredible career!

Might not hurt to throw Lehky on PP1 again too because he’s an absolute dawg out there.

I know the Avs got their PP goal with their fav 1T but the answer to the PP woes is right there. Attack from the goal line; they’re giving it to you, you have time and space, take it. Take it to the net, throw it to the slot, go back door. One thing will open up another….

@chazz1233 It’s fine now that we’re up 3-0 but we’re likely fortunate. I’m just worried about when we play better teams. It’s unusual for Nate to be this quiet for this long. No doubt the potential is there for us but a lot of guys are going to need to find another gear going forward

This might be as worrisome a 3-0 series lead you’ll see in NHL history. From the Makar goal on the compete was much better but MacKinnon has 1 assist and 7 shots in 3 games?? The rest of the top 6 besides Lehky not much better. Makar was a beast.Things need to get better and fast

@brauchlerj I def see your point and we are seeing our depth pay off but we were like 30 points ahead of these guys in the reg season and we’re barely getting by. Our start has covered some things up but we haven’t been as good since Jan 1. Im just concerned for when we play better teams

@NickQuebec Beyond lucky…. It’s scary to see how those guys are playing right now. I don’t recall a 3 game stretch in the playoffs where MacKinnon was so quiet in his career

An average powerplay is the difference between putting a team away and giving them life in a series…. Especially when you’re the road team….

@AdoHernandez27 @MileHighHockey Sure; playing good defensively is important for the Avs but these games are low scoring and close because the Kings are dictating how the games are played. This could be a one shot game now;what more could they ask?This game might be more important to the Avs than it is the Kings

Like I understand the concept I just don’t think we are applying it correctly when analyzing what we’ve seen so far.
What happened in the regular season means nothing now and so far (to me) the story has bee Colorado’s commitment to defensive play.
I know we want them to boat race the Kings but it’s gonna take that commitment defensively to do something really big in the postseason.
They’ve openly communicated this desire. They have set out to do something and are doing it.

The #Avs & Wedgewood have allowed one goal on 31 shots over 4 periods of playoff hockey and somehow the narrative is:
“You have to be happy if you are LA.”
Kings are on pace for 4 more goals the rest of the series (if the series went seven games).
I don’t get it.

Avs win a faceoff to start a powerplay only to immediately give up a breakaway… what are we doing?? Luckily wedgie is showing up big. We’ve gotta dig in here. This isn’t good enough.

Beyond fortunate to win that game. What are we doing with 4 forwards out there on that final PP? Why is Necas out there?? Kings are feeling good after game 1…..

Offence from our blueline is going to be huge as it seems that’s our best method of attack. Brent Burns should be a weapon in that department. Don’t slack on the forecheck either; we did on 2 occasions and it was their most dangerous shifts of the period

1 period in and I think they’re dictating the way the game is played. If we can’t figure out a way to get our speed going through the neutral zone it’s going to keep them in it. If the Mack line is dumping pucks in, the kings are loving it.
