Agreed! Evidence from our transnational education advocacy across Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Tanzania shows that collective action produces results when leaders work together with rural youth actors to address system inadequacies. @policy_F @PSAM_AFRICA @teach4zim @CescMoz @fawe_malawi

Small, consistent actions at community level can shift how systems respond. When information is accessible, when communities are engaged, and when young people step into these spaces with evidence accountability starts to take shape. This group represents that collective effort. Not perfect, not finished but moving in the right direction. At this review meeting, we reflected on the past years what we’ve done, what has worked, and where the gaps still exist. From school feeding advocacy to the School Notice Board Initiative, we looked at how our work has contributed to improving transparency, community engagement, and accountability in education. We also focused on what comes next how to strengthen citizen monitoring, deepen engagement with decision-makers, and make better use of data like EMIS and school budgets to influence change. The direction is clear: build on what works, fix what doesn’t, and stay consistent in pushing for systems that respond to the needs of every learner. @KuyendaC

KUYENDA COLLECTIVE REFLECTION WORKSHOP 2026 Author: Emmanuel Kavula RYC Mbogwe Meaningful youth engagement in education decision-making strengthens not only systems and investments but rebooting the transformation, creating better education outcomes and a brighter future. At the Kuyenda Collective Reflection Workshop ( from 10 - 12 March 2026 ) Johannesburg South Africa, I had the privilege of sharing ideas and concerns on the significance of meaningful youth engagement in shaping education and development policy. As I shared our stories, I enjoyed how powerful Kuyenda Youth Collectives in the project countries: Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zimbabwe are leading grassroots campaigns, influencing education decision-making that contributes to inclusive, equitable, and quality education. What inspired me most was the commitment of youth and country partners who shared participatory approaches and strategies on how to continue addressing the learning crisis through system strengthening and leading community level advocacy in a better way by engaging youth to contribute towards attaining the SDG 4 on Inclusive and equitable quality education. The Reflection Workshop become a leading meeting for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and strategic partnerships, driven by evidence and rooted in the contextual realities of the SADC region and the African continent at large. Let's continue taking a seriously led addressing the learning crisis for the desired education we want to ensure that no one is left behind towards 2030. @KuyendaC

Taxation of High Net Worth Individuals is an emerging policy area, with many countries, including those in Africa, establishing dedicated units within their tax administrations to manage HNWI affairs. Ongoing discussions are also exploring targeted measures such as special tax rates or even a net wealth tax. These reforms are largely driven by the need to strengthen domestic revenue for public services and sustainable development, while addressing rising inequality and ensuring fair taxation. Tanzania, with a Gini coefficient of 0.413, is part of this broader conversation. To access more details, click the link and download the full policy brief. policyforum-tz.org/node/6097

As a Rural Youth Champion under Kuyenda Collective, I do not advocate from a distance. I advocate from lived realities. Every school visit, every conversation with teachers, every dialogue with parents and local leaders reminds me that education reform begins at community level. When classrooms are overcrowded, when teaching materials are limited, when data is delayed or budgets are unclear — it is the learner who carries the burden. Through community dialogues and citizen monitoring, we are strengthening local accountability. We are helping communities understand how education budgets work, how EMIS data supports planning, and why transparency matters in ensuring equitable distribution of teachers and resources. ~ Mwameja Ngauya @KuyendaC

Tanzania’s education sector continues to face systemic challenges, including teacher shortages, inadequate learning and teaching resources, poor school infrastructure, and weaknesses in the effective management and utilization of the Education Management Information System (EMIS). These challenges are not only service delivery issues — they are also governance and accountability concerns. Limited transparency in education budgeting, coupled with gaps in timely and accessible data, constrains meaningful citizen participation in planning and oversight processes. In line with the Education Out Loud commitment to strengthening civil society engagement and public accountability, there is a need to enhance budget transparency, improve access to reliable education data, and support citizen monitoring at community level. Empowering communities, youth advocates, and school stakeholders to track resource allocation and expenditure will contribute to more equitable, efficient, and evidence-based education planning. Strengthening these accountability systems is critical to ensuring that public education resources translate into improved teaching, better learning outcomes, and inclusive quality education for all learners in Tanzania ~ Zulfa Msham @KuyendaC

Hate speech fuels incitement and division within communities. It is crucial to review, reflect on, and verify the language used in public speeches before addressing citizens in order to safeguard the dignity and respect of Women and Girls. @KuyendaC #16DaysOfActivism2025 — Emmanuel Kavula
