I find this song really sneery towards working class people, it’s made by people who hang out at the Groucho and think they can relate because they somewhat like football and do a bit of packet. It’s the death of britpop and the start of blairism. An evil malevolent song

thing about The Thick of It tho is it's extremely superficial and politically vacuous compared to something like Yes Minister. all it's concerned with are the little games - the actual politics and interests involved are treated as irrelevant/non-existent/uninteresting.

Bellingham would be a classic no8, were it not for the fact that he also has elite striker "nose". Top class game intelligence when it comes to timing a run, sensing where the most dangerous place to be is.
Lampard was the same mix.

Bellingham is a strange player. He’s a “No 10” who never really thrives between the lines and is more effective either higher or deeper. On the evidence of the Croatia game Tuchel might have worked out how to use him best. ⬇️

Whatever you think about banning kids off social media, the point remains that kids should not be on social media. Of course parents should do their jobs properly but you can't just do nothing waiting for miracles to happen. So what should we do about it based on reality?

The Twitter algorithm is weird. Last week, my timeline was all about cold calling. Today there seem to be two main topics:
In edutwitter, I am shown a bunch of people completely missing an innocuous joke from a British teenager.
In US politics twitter, it shows me...people asking the important and urgent question of whether women should be allowed to vote. Like, seriously? This is what we're doing now?

Why is cold calling suddenly all over my timeline again? My view: I've seen cold calling used in both really positive and intensely negative (gotcha!) ways. The first is good and the second is bad, obviously. What I dont see in the discussion, though: I've seen really effective classes that used cold calling extensively, but the very best classes I've seen and been part of almost never use it, because students are so eager to participate that cold calling would feel out of place, and it becomes counterproductive. I use it myself as a teacher, but I also always aim to reach the point where I can drop it. With some classes I've done that very effectively; with others, far less so. (This year, sadly, I still use it often with every class I teach)
