@dgoold @LWorthySports I think the Cardinals are actually in an enviable position right now. They have 3 SPs on expiring contracts that are already cheaper than similar SPs who’ve signed this winter. They have a great closer on a 1 year deal for cheap too. And Nado if he accepts to offer in deals.

@dgoold All 3 have very favorable contracts in the current landscape & if the Cardinals eat even half that they’re absolute steals for teams struggling to fill 5th starter spots on their rotations. You won’t get much in terms of players returning but that’s not the point with them

@dgoold To be fair the pitchers should’ve always been the first options. I’ve disagreed with even attempting to deal Nado, Gray, Contreras or Helsley like was being posted months ago as their primary goal. But always supported moving the trio of Mikolas, Matz & Fedde

#stlcards are seeking to trim more payroll and if they cannot do it by moving Nolan Arenado or enough of his deal, they'll pivot to looking to move salaries from the pitching staff. They've had teams call on Fedde, Matz, for example.

@BKSportsTalk I’m just saying being a predatory trader and vulturing late off season free agent signings is a distinct possibility. Wait for all these silly deals then offer Fedde, Mikolas & Matz in separate trades with cash to make them cheaper. Then nab a FA in a Lohse/Lackey type deal.

@RJ_Young I honestly think that college football would be better served with a small CFP and a large NIT playoffs where first couple rounds are home games and conference champs regardless of conferences get home field advantage.
It would help answer the burning questions everyone asks
