@BjorkBrodern @edzitron Also, build out of data centers without upgrading / maintaining the electric grid at the same time is asking for a disaster

@BjorkBrodern To be frank data centers are both needed and a scam. @edzitron talks a lot about the second part. It's a vehicle for investors to get more money out of ai hype

I don't think Data centers are half as bad for the environment or the community as those against them claim they are but I also see no use for them. I get that we're in some kind of AI arms race against China but it's not clear to me what we get if we win. I honestly believe that if we had lost the smartphone race and China were the only country with smartphones and social media and the rest of the world were stuck in 2010 technology we would be better of with better mental health records and higher TFR.

Exploring Polish real estate, this one is rather spacious, but $200k may be a little steep…

Rolex has and still is executing everything from their watches, brand, marketing and due diligence to the highest possible level. They were hardly ever the first to innovate, never the first dive watch, never the mountaineering watch (remember the Everest-Explorer-Watch-Bullshit), but their game is ON POINT. Even today, with their ambassadors, the AD games, everything Rolex does, just feeds people with desire, it's almost unbelievable... the shame rituals rich people are willing to entertain. As for the rotor part, Rolex had a strong enough patent on the full-rotor automatic that other brands had to engineer around it. They were, and still are insanely good at packaging, patenting, proving it publicly, and then marketing it until people remembered Rolex as the watch / the originator of everything. I can't even be mad about it, to be this consistently good to your brand for this many decades/centuries is just incredible.
Paul Graham@paulg

For a long time I boycotted bumper automatics. They only exist as a hack to get around a Rolex patent. But performance is the ultimate test, and Omega did such an excellent job on the cal 354 that they're often still accurate to a couple seconds a day, 70 years later.

@visakanv @quasimondo Tried to search for some couldn't find it. But I remember some like "ai did this child drawing". It feels like a run of a mill troll job to me, but I'm outside of ingroup. Seems to mean a lot for AI art crowd. Why would you like to reference it in future?

Tyler Cowen isn't a genius. He's very good at marketing and has a lot of money behind him. In the mid 2010s he made one of the most ridiculous arguments imaginable: that 19th century culture was made by the rich. It's so abominably stupid that he was eviscerated by many prominent minds and really was made to look like a fool by Epicurean Dealmaker, who is clearly miles ahead of Cowen in intelligence and taste. But you won't read about this because moneyed interests aren't trying to promote sense, they're trying to promote bullshit. Don't trust me, look at Cowen's post, it is batshit insane and just plain idiotic: marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolu… And for more of the controversy, read this: crookedtimber.org/2014/04/30/ine… Tyler Cowen is a doodoo head.

CNC router (get the tool changer it's worth it), dust collector (clear view has best deals), a REALLY nice chop saw, saw stop professional saw with the extended table, a bunch of 4x8 tables on heavy duty castors (two heights one hip and one lower for assembly), lamello cutter, domino jointer, bench router (can integrate into Xtra long chopsaw bench), a 50gal or bigger compressor, overhead hoses, overhead plugs, an hvlp sprayer and extra guns, trim router, sanders (battery are fine if adjustable speed otherwise go pneumatic) drill&impact combo, drawer runner and door hinge jigs, drill press, chisels, machine squares, 8'+ and a 4' straight ede, that should get you 90% of the way. Probably cost about the same as an ivy league degree. But you're guaranteed a job at your own company.

There aren’t any high end Household Fixture companies in the US… And only one high end Household appliance company which is Sub-Zero out of Wisconsin. There should be a new company that does high end metal fixturing and also appliances 😉

"Real competitors sharpen you. Copycats with $31.5M just embarrass the cap table. This isn't competition. It's nepotism with a term sheet." What does this AI slop even mean? Embarrass the cap table? It's not competition it's nepotism? What in the chatgpt is this?
