So glad I watched @GarethDennis interview on @novaramedia discussing Labours apparent ‘nationalisation’ of rail:
🚝It’s not actually nationalisation as the rolling stock operating companies who own the trains will remain privatised 😒
🚝Despite using words to dress this up as new transformative policy, it is essentially no different to what the current government is proposing 😒
🚝It likely won’t make a difference to fares without increasing capacity by investing more in rail infrastructure 😒
🚝Basically sounds like a crumb being thrown at Progressive voters who are turning to @TheGreenParty . . . But essentially it’s not even a crumb 😒
To summarise, don’t fall for this pledge, it has zero substance and likely will be thrown away like all the others.

Astonishing stat: 40% of council houses sold through Right to Buy are now rented by private landlords (up to 70% in some places) at double the cost of council housing. Presumably with many of those renters supported by housing benefit. Utter madness!

@JonnElledge @politicalhackuk And they're not part of many of the councils maintenance schemes, like if they upgrade the windows for better insulation and so on.
