We will remember them... Here's a story by Great War researcher & friend, the late Colin Herbert. Recounted in a village hall in Hawarden in 2014, it's a moving story of letters from his uncle Ernest. Now available to future generations @pplscollection peoplescollection.wales/items/534259

Delighted to be able to pass-on the music! This lovely donated instrument on the way to be re-homed at Royal Buckley Town Band. May the joy continue when an enthusiastic silver-band youngster breathes new into this fine tenor horn royalbuckleytownband.co.uk @pplscollection

Here's a blazer patch from the club my dad played for - Aberavon RFC ('the Wizards') made in the 90s, now in the Peoples Collection Wales ❤️‍🔥👇 Rugby Union is the national sport of Wales. The history, the passion, the experience, beyond the foreign notion of 'class' imposed on us in public life, it is our proxy for war, and the place where we let our national honour burns brightest. Our best players have mythic status, spoken about more than our politicians, other celebs, and even our national heroes. They are referred to simply by their given name, or a nickname, even by initials! Everyone knows who I'm talking about if I say 'JPR', for instance 👀 They embody what it is to be Welsh. May we return swiftly to remembering this 🙏

Late September is the start of ‘Amser Gwylad’ or ‘Vigil Time’, an old Welsh farming tradition. 🍂 Vigil Time is when the days get too short to finish all your work by sunset and you have to light a candle to complete your chores in the dark... 🕯️ People would meet at each other’s houses for Noson Weu (Knitting Nights), gathering around the fireplace to tell stories and sing while knitting, sewing, whittling or any other indoor jobs that needed doing. This helped save on candles and firewood and of course made the long, dark nights more cheerful. 📷 Mrs Edwards knitting, 1875 Courtesy of @NLWales via @pplscollection

No other Welsh-based filmmaker has matched the impact on the British film industry than William Haggar. A larger-than-life fairground showman who made most of his short movies in the 1st decade of the arrival of cinema. Below, Haggar’s travelling #BioscopeTheatre from 1902. In 1910 Haggar set up his #RoyalElectricBioscope before The Kosy Kinema, a purpose-built cinema in 1915. This photograph taken on the occasion of the Kinema’s opening, got you an upholstered armchair for six pence. Source: Cynon Valley Museum / RCT Library Service @RCTCouncil
