I don’t really find this Instant Maid services that great to be honest.
Regular Maids have tremendous access, they know every corner of your house, they know where’s the garam masala kept, and it takes some patience to start your gas stove. This muscle memory is developed with time, and this is what you are paying for. For her to perform her duty in the background.
With instant maids, you have to repeat the instructions all over again, it becomes a collaborative effort to get work done, and your bandwidth also goes in it. Although in the west, people opt for weekend maids, to do the cleaning etc. but you know who’s coming to your home, and you can give access.

Behind that sabzi market, in one of the back lanes, there used to be a very old ice cream parlour where my parents regularly took me for ice cream in childhood. Our mutton also used to come from a shop there.
And opposite the sabzi market there was that very famous shop for achar, murabba, papad, peethi and wadiyan. I still remember the smell of that place. Badri Pehlwan the bone setter also had his shop somewhere there if memory serves right.
And on that same road going towards Baraf Khana there used to be Robin Talkies.
Now you have properly sent me into old Delhi University area nostalgia mode 🙂

I’m incredibly intrigued by the rise of #CockroachJantaParty, which has already reached more than 15 million followers on @Instagram in just five days.
I understand the frustrations of the youth and see why they are resonating with it. This is precisely why the account being withheld on X is disastrous and deeply unwise - there should be an outlet for the youth to express their feelings and so, let CJP’s account function instead of shutting it down! Democracies need outlets for dissent, humour, satire and even frustration.
I am uncertain about the future of this movement but I hope the youngsters behind it find a way to bring this energy into mainstream politics or perhaps express it through their vote to be a voice of change and in doing so, become impossible to ignore. This is an opportunity that the Opposition must seize.
