@KatTimpf The odds of you seeing this are low but in case you do, just wanted to say thank you for helping me keep a sense of humor during my own cancer struggle. Definitely inspirational!

@GavinNewsom Um yeah….I remember how outraged you were when Jasmine Crockett called a paraplegic “governor hot wheels.” Oh wait, that wasn’t you. Because you’re only outraged when it’s not your side of the aisle.

@mzdawn621 Thanks! Mine is clear carcinoma carcinoma, aggressive, harder to treat. Was caught in stage 1 which is great, but broke open during surgery so have to treat it like stage 3 due to the spill. It was a 4 inch tumor hiding inside a 12 pound ovarian cyst. Best to you too.

I was diagnosed w Stage 4a Primary Peritoneal Cancer in Feb 2022 which is very rare with a very high recurrence rate and I’m doing fabulously! I went 30 months with no evidence of disease and am now battling a slight recurrence. PPC is basically treated as Ovarian Like cancer would be treated but men can get it too just not Primary- they get it secondary. You too will do great!!! Good luck 🍀

Got my first tattoo ever today: nipples! My colleague, @JenGriffinFNC, picked me up at the train station in Baltimore, and took me to go see reconstructive tattoo legend Vinnie Myers at his shop in Finksburg. She stayed with me the whole time: From helping me decide on size and placement to watching me stand in front of the mirror topless, crying tears of joy as I marveled at the final result of Vinnie’s amazing work — and especially at the fact that I was looking at myself and seeing a full human woman for the first time since my double mastectomy nine months ago. I should also mention that this was my first time ever hanging out with her. Most people just get a drink or something. But Jennifer had offered to take me because she’d had her own postpartum battle with cancer when she was only a few years older than I am now. When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, I kept seeing a saying floating around: “Worst club, best members.” And holy hell, is it the truth! This past year has been the most difficult of my life. Almost nothing has worked out the way that I’d expected, or the way that I honestly still feel I deserved. But among these unexpected events, there’s also been a lot of unexpected good… and so much of it in the form of conversations that have turned into relationships with other women who sadly know exactly how all of the bad stuff feels. There’s really no limit to how messy your life can get, as losing parts of your body within a month of having an entire other body come out of it can show you. But there really is beauty in the mess, man. Actually, the most beautiful stuff comes out of a mess. Today reminded me of that in such a huge way. It was way better than just grabbing a drink.

This weekend my brother Tony shot and killed himself. He had 4 grown children and a wife whom he loved more than anything, and his family meant the world to him. It’s unlikely that we’ll ever get an explanation that makes any sense, because he would never have done something like this in his right mind- and those who were with him shortly before he did this said he was not in his right mind at all. I’m sitting on his lap in the picture below. Everything about him was big, in just about every way. He was tall, muscular, and physically intimidating to most people. His personality was huge, his laugh and his humor were gigantic. And he had the biggest heart. Unfortunately, he also had enormous demons that chased him his whole life. My parents took him in when he was 13 years old and I had just been born. He was my mom’s sister’s son. Biologically my cousin. He came from a broken home with abuse, violence, and abandonment. My parents have often described when he first came into our home that they would find him hiding in the storage room in the middle of the night. My brother never got the help he needed, as so many people in my family have not. I come from generations of people who hide their feelings, keep secrets, and suffer in silence. I’ve never been like my family in that way, which is why I developed an almost obsessive and consuming drive to speak out and tell the truth- even when it’s unpopular and people don’t want to hear it. Because secrets and silence destroy. My own demons have led me to envelop myself with compulsive work. The irony was not lost on me that I spent the day yesterday on NewsMax doing commentary on the death of Charlie Kirk, a man I wasn’t close with, to avoid dealing with the death of the man who grew up downstairs from me. I’m indeed sad. Heartbroken actually. But I’ve been grieving the loss of many in my family for a long time, including many that are still alive. They’ve been lost to their own unresolved traumas, and wounds that were never healed. My brother Tony is one of those people. I loved him. I love everybody in my family. But it is not easy navigating the often harsh terrain of broken people. And so I will continue to work, without pause. Because it’s what I do. Tony, I’m so sorry for all that was done to you that you didn’t deserve. But I’m grateful you came into our home and became a part of our family. Thank you for your jokes. Thank you for your strength. Thank you for loving my parents. Thank you for loving me. We know you didn’t mean to do this. We know it was an accident. We all forgive you. Be at peace now. Thank you for being my big brother. Love, Brandon

@WesternUnion Your policies are the WORST. You have made it impossible for me to send funds to a friend whom I know PERSONALLY in the Philippines to help fund medical treatment. You insist it’s fraud even though I told you I have known them personally for over 15 years.

@WorldRemit You provided great service to our nonprofit for years allowing us to send money to partners overseas and suddenly your new terms & conditions don’t allow the use of a business credit card. Ridiculous, how is a business supposed to do business with you?

I am so sick of hearing Americans who voted for Trump did so because they don’t like women,  they don’t like black people, they don’t like brown people, they don’t like gay people, they don’t like trans people,  they don’t like immigrants, blah blah blah. You know what Americans don’t like?  They don’t like eggs that cost $10 a dozen.  They don’t like gas that costs $5 a gallon.  They don’t like men in girls’ locker rooms.  They don’t like tampons in boys’ bathrooms.  They don’t like a man,  pretending to be a woman, punching out an ACTUAL woman in the Olympics.  They don’t like Venezuelan gangs taking over apartment complexes.  They don’t like sending their children  into foreign wars.  And do you know what they especially don’t like?  They don't like being called racist,  Nazi,  pieces of deplorable garbage because they don’t like those things.
