STG has once again announced the seizure of a drug shipment, this time totaling 25 million Captagon pills in #Homs. (As we’ve pointed out before, drug production, trafficking, and smuggling are taking place in Sunni Arab areas under STG control and haven’t stopped since the fall of the Assad regime.)
Lister, however, offers a different take, trying to pin responsibility on #Suwayda, even though the city is surrounded and doesn’t even have reliable access to basic necessities like flour. Under those conditions, it’s hard to see how it could possibly obtain the raw materials needed to manufacture Captagon. Just reading the headline of his article is enough to see how poorly argued and politicized it is.

Rural #Damascus : Media Directorate announced that security forces in #Yabroud arrested four people for smuggling a large drug shipment from #Lebanon. The haul included roughly 650,000 Captagon pills, 100 kg of hashish, 226 nitrogen balloons, and an amount of marijuana. I think this is the first time since the fall of the regime that a drug bust has been reported without being posted on the HTS-led Ministry of Interior’s official social media accounts, especially after our last post where we noted that drug trafficking and production in #Syria remains rooted in the #Sunni community, and they’re essentially publishing the evidence themselves.
