image if bell labs had to send every failed experiment back to its equipment supplier just to keep using the lab. looks like lot of the ai companies rn open coordination on the other hand lets enterprise or literally ANYONE use powerful models without donating the learning created through their own work without that every company becomes an unpaid research lab for the model provider

China went from copying Western drugs to being the country America copies, in about ten years. @cremieuxrecueil came on @postagixyz to explain how that happened, and where it leaves open science once AGI is in the picture. We got into where biotech's frontier actually sits right now, why it moved to China, and what happens when AI labs start pulling the whole stack in. Chapters: 1:16 the reproducibility and replicability crisis 7:31 whether AI labs vertically integrate science 14:49 how China became the number one drug innovator 18:53 the pricing trick nobody else figured out 20:51 the law that makes you ask competitors for permission to open a hospital 29:45 what AGI does to all of it

@sreeramkannan @nasqret Not only did the agents crack it, they managed to make it even better. x.com/srimisra/statu…

Google: "This research is TOO DANGEROUS. We are going to CENSOR it." When Google published its recent quantum paper on breaking the ECDSA encryption underlying Bitcoin and Ethereum, it chose to censor the actual report. On the recent un# podcast, Jake Brukhman discussed how an autonomous counterforce bypassed this corporate gatekeeping: → A swarm of agents coordinated by @eigenlabs came together to tackle the problem. → Within a week, the swarm successfully reconstructed the exact algorithm that Google kept private. → By the second week, the agents optimized the algorithm's efficiency by over 40% and open-sourced the entire project. This is a clear look at the true power of autonomous agents. It shows that they are collectively getting smarter, working in groups, and delivering unexpected outcomes.

GPT-5.6 launch video shows ecdsa . fail The Eigen Labs Quantum Challenge made it to the GPT launch video. One of the three hero stories is Prof. Bartosz Naskrecki (@nasqret) talking about using GPT to solve hard math problems. On his board is ecdsa dot fail our open quantum challenge. Seeing it show up at the frontier ai lab's biggest launch of the year says something about where research is heading. Open agentic research is taking off! Strap up to solve the hardest scientific problems!

Humans ask the questions; AI helps discover the answers. OpenFrontierCS is a step toward measurable autoresearch. Huge thanks to all the amazing collaborators who made this possible. Excited to see the community push this forward together! 🚀
Eigen Labs@eigenlabs

Researchers from Berkeley and Princeton are partnering with Eigen Labs to launch a suite of open science autoresearch challenges together on Frontier CS. The paper is being presented at @icmlconf in Seoul today. If you’re there, join the researchers at Hall A 502 from 2:30-4:15 PM local time to discuss. The challenge is live globally: openfrontiercs.com

We’re gonna make sure this Civilizational Infrastructure we call Artificial Intelligence remains open and available to all. That’s a promise and a worthy endeavor.

I always think of the xkcd comic that's like "liberal arts majors may be annoying, but there's nothing worse than a physicist encountering a new subject for the first time" my new substack article is about the moat to quantum software being torn down by AI. link below!
