Thank you, @npmjs and cybersecurity community for the rapid awareness work re axios. Amazing turn around time.

We've performed our audit and determined just 3 applications were using the dependency but were not yet updated to the compromised version. We've locked the projects and will be removing axios as a dependency as it's no longer needed in today's modern web and Bun/Node APIs.

The axios software dependency has been compromised in a supply chain attack. I've gone ahead and froze all deployment systems across the board. Clients, vendors and partners will see no updates to software maintained by PremoWeb. Our systems are safe. Emails going out now.

As we balance giving the best possible quotas and maintaining fairness between users, especially under incredible demand, we will be establishing generous weekly limits for all models. This will only affect a minority of Google AI Pro users. These limits do not apply to Google AI Ultra, which continues to be the best plan for power developers!

@intellectronica @AnthropicAI @opencode @openclaw For what it's worth, you can rent GPU's on demand from companies like Vultr and run your models in a private cloud. Automated with Ansible and takes moments to setup for your work day, tear down when not in use. I would couple this with a VPS that automates and caches LLMs.

If you're frustrated that @AnthropicAI won't let you use their subscription with @opencode, @openclaw, and others, here's your reminder that GLM-4.7, Minimax-m2.1, and Gemini 3 are about 95% as good, cost a fraction of Claude, and don't care where you use them.

@nuqs47ng @AnthropicAI For now, the $20/mo offering from Google Antigravity does give access to Open 4.5. Here is a plugin for Open Code that let's you auth against multiple Google Accounts and load balances when hitting rate limits. github.com/shekohex/openc…

I signed up for Claude Code on Christmas Eve, to try it for the e2e env migration. It went well, so I kept using it. But the anti-OSS stance by @AnthropicAI makes it hard to justify rewarding closed, anti-open innovation behaviour. Another issue is how it made me change the way I work: I used to enjoy writing quality code, I no longer do if I have this shortcut. I end up accepting vast quantities of semi-slop for the sake of speed. Don't get me wrong, Opus is phenomenal, I kept throwing harder problems at it, which it'd take to 80% every time. But getting it to 100% would still take the other 80% of the time and hit limits. At which point I'd rather take over and do it myself . So I'm cancelling my Claude Code access, for now. Until I find something better, more open, and that still allows me to think about the quality of what I ship.

@5mukx We purchased the .dev version of our domain specifically for this reason. A private self hosted Gitlab instance where we plan to share our public projects as well. Thank you for bring this to people's attention. It's a very important topic that needs to be shared.

GitHub is not a safe place to store your confidential projects, code, or research. I'll tell you why. GitHub monitors whatever you do, i know this already but today, I caught github red handed. Here's how, Just a few minutes ago, github suspended my private dummy account, saying it violates the terms of service. I hadn't posted anything in the repo. It was a private account where only I could see my starred repositories. I love collecting cool rare projects/source codes and categorizing them in lists. I don't care much since it's just a dummy account with nothing important, but it had some cool lists I'd starred. Sharing this for awareness, dudes if you are doing some private research and storing it as private repo... If you have just $3 to $5 a month, rent a server and host gitea there. Best and perfect your rules, your code, your project.

All my new code will be closed-source from now on. I've contributed millions of lines of carefully written OSS code over the past decade, spent thousands of hours helping other people. If you want to use my libraries (1M+ downloads/month) in the future, you have to pay. I made good money funneling people through my OSS and being recognized as expert in several fields. This was entirely based on HUMANS knowing and seeing me by USING and INTERACTING with my code. No humans will ever read my docs again when coding agents do it in seconds. Nobody will even know it's me who built it. Look at Tailwind: 75 million downloads/month, more popular than ever, revenue down 80%, docs traffic down 40%, 75% of engineering team laid off. Someone submitted a PR to add LLM-optimized docs and Wathan had to decline - optimizing for agents accelerates his business's death. He's being asked to build the infrastructure for his own obsolescence. Two of the most common OSS business models: - Open Core: Give away the library, sell premium once you reach critical mass (Tailwind UI, Prisma Accelerate, Supabase Cloud...) - Expertise Moat: Be THE expert in your library - consulting gigs, speaking, higher salary Tailwind just proved the first one is dying. Agents bypass the documentation funnel. They don't see your premium tier. Every project relying on docs-to-premium conversion will face the same pressure: Prisma, Drizzle, MikroORM, Strapi, and many more. The core insight: OSS monetization was always about attention. Human eyeballs on your docs, brand, expertise. That attention has literally moved into attention layers. Your docs trained the models that now make visiting you unnecessary. Human attention paid. Artificial attention doesn't. Some OSS will keep going - wealthy devs doing it for fun or education. That's not a system, that's charity. Most popular OSS runs on economic incentives. Destroy them, they stop playing. Why go closed-source? When the monetization funnel is broken, you move payment to the only point that still exists: access. OSS gave away access hoping to monetize attention downstream. Agents broke downstream. Closed-source gates access directly. The final irony: OSS trained the models now killing it. We built our own replacement. My prediction: a new marketplace emerges, built for agents. Want your agent to use Tailwind? Prisma? Pay per access. Libraries become APIs with meters. The old model: free code -> human attention -> monetization. The new model: pay at the gate or your agent doesn't get in.

Something else the web development world needs to be aware of is that Anthropic recently acquired Bun, the JS runtime. It's MIT licensed, but may soon require a fork to keep the torch going. We are concerned that Bun won't stay open source. Pay attention x.com/bcardarella/st…

Anthropic shutting down Claude Pro access to all but Claude Code is the first shot in the bubble. This is going to come faster than people realize, costs are going to rise, services and quality are going to go down.
