@komonews Some of the economic damage of this tax is already done. People and businesses are leaving, choosing to invest elsewhere, or deciding that Washington is no longer a good place to start a business. Repealing the unconstitutional tax will not fix that, but it may stop the bleeding.

Two kinds of dads coach their kids: 1) my kid is the star regardless of ability and 2) my kid has to work twice as hard as the other kids for me to even consider starting him. The second kid will resent dad a bit, but be better in the long run. The first kid grows up to be an entitled loser who joins the DSA.

@JohnPiper He used Goliath’s own sword to strike off his head. That same sword became his only weapon as he fled Saul. God soothed David in his fear during his flight with the memory that David had defeated bigger men than Saul.

David to Goliath: “You come to me with a sword and with a spear, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied . . . that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear.” 1 Samuel 17:45–47 The weapons of our warfare are not of this world.

@fugitivemama More apportionment in the next census. It is not that hard. So long as illegal aliens are counted toward congressional seats, this will continue.

Most people don't even do the basics to advance the causes they believe in. Like actually vote. Like speak up at meetings. Like plod along and push. Those who do these things can get extraordinary results. That's why there are never ending attempts to demoralize, paralyze, and overcomplicate. Forge ahead.

I’m hearing from friends in Seattle that financial advisors are telling people if they are domiciling elsewhere to stop giving to WA state charities. Do the Democrats realize the knock on effects this is going to have? The people I know who are leaving big givers to charity

I am wrapping up a Sunday School year in Revelation (from an amillennial perspective with thanks to GK Beale). This is my second time teaching the book and what I noticed is how evil always turns in on its own. Once the reader understands the pattern is obvious everywhere.

😮 Emails revealed—🗳️ but voters may still get their say The Washington State Supreme Court is about to decide whether voters will get a say on the state’s new income tax—and newly surfaced emails could play a key role. At issue is whether lawmakers can block a referendum by declaring an “emergency.” Under state law, a referendum allows voters to challenge a newly passed law by gathering signatures and putting it on the ballot. But the income tax bill includes an “emergency” clause, which shuts that process down. Now, reporting from The Center Square Washington suggests that clause may not have been about any real emergency at all. Here’s why that matters heading into the court hearing: 📧 Emails show Senate Majority Leader Jamie Pedersen was advised to include the clause specifically to prevent a referendum ⚠️ The tax itself doesn’t take effect for more than a year—undercutting claims of urgency 🗳️ Blocking a referendum means voters are denied a direct vote on a policy they’ve rejected ten times before The court isn’t being asked whether an income tax is good policy. It’s being asked whether lawmakers can declare an “emergency” they didn’t actually believe in—just to stop voters from weighing in. If the court allows that, it risks turning “emergency” into a workaround for avoiding referendums altogether. If it doesn’t, voters could soon have a narrow window to gather signatures and put the measure on the ballot. Thousands are already stepping up. You can get ahead of that effort here: (letsgowa.com/request_sig_sh…) This case will determine whether the referendum process still has teeth—or whether it can be sidestepped when it matters most. -Future 42 Team

When you go to work, 2 things should happen: You should get every penny that you've earned, and your workplace should be safe. It's our mission as a state to create, maintain, and enforce the safest work environments possible. We'll continue to do that work to honor the memory of the individuals we recently recognized at Labor & Industries' Worker Memorial Day.

My wife summarizing a children's story for our daughter in the most based way possible: "So the witch almost ate the children up. But at the last minute, their father came and killed the witch. Which is good. Because witches should die. That's what the Bible says." 🤣

@Simm1991 @stevemgordon67 I have met only a handful of people who have truly surrendered to evil in my life. Most people who do evil things believe in utilitarian nonsense—serving the greater good, coupled with Machiavellian justification—the ends justify the means.

@DBryanRhodes I had to read the Church Dogmatics in seminary. I also wondered what I was missing. He had a few choice phrases here and there (the judge judged in our place). I just figured I was not smart enough to get it.

This is not at all what the AG office did. Their role is not to engineer how to overturn case law, it’s to tell the legislature that their bill violates case law. Past that, Purcell was the one who recommended the emergency clause to prohibit democratic input. None of it was appropriate. Nick Brown’s statement here raises questions about his own involvement.
Lynnwood Times@LynnwoodTimes

🚨AG Brown refutes allegations by Center Square that his office acted inappropriately advising legislature on statewide income tax proposal. 🟦AG Brown: "It is very common for AG's Offices to advise their clients on the law, the status of cases, analyzing prior Supreme Court decisions. It is something that we do on a regular basis. It is something that all of my predecessors have done. So yes, I think it's pretty common and appropriate."

@JayInslee Hard to tell when the numbers are not available (last published year was 2022 and the numbers were laughably low). Even if true, it is such a minimal amount as to be negligible except in the massive costs paid by ordinary citizens of this state.
