Attention OrthoBros! Since you've declared that anyone who exposes Islam but doesn't debate "the true church" is likely a grifter, I'm starting to prepare for a future debate on the topic. Tonight, I'll take a look at 10 problems with Eastern Orthodoxy. Join me to correct any mistakes. youtube.com/live/YJ699ZnDY…

St. Cleopa Illie:

In the Holy Scripture, nationalism is also accepted as a feeling of attachment to the nation to which we belong, and patriotism as a feeling of sympathy and attachment to the homeland in which we live. The Savior Himself gave priority to those of His own race (the lost sheep of the house of Israel) over the Gentiles (Matthew 15:24–25), and yet He also commanded His apostles to preach to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem (Luke 24:47; Acts 1:8). Then He spoke about the rulers of states, without suggesting that they were unnecessary (Matthew 22:21).
The Apostle Paul likewise respected the right of every people to “glory” and “honor” before God if they do good (Romans 2:10). And when he was wrongly mistreated, he appealed to his right as a Roman citizen and to the judgment of the emperor (Acts 22:25), even though the emperor was a pagan and he himself had rebuked those who brought lawsuits before the Gentiles (1 Corinthians 6). From this it results not only that the state has importance as a guarantor of human rights, but also that the individual has the right to make use of his status as a citizen of the state, as a loyal subject. From this situation arises a sense of dignity, whether national or patriotic.
When, at the first Pentecost, alongside the Christians in Jerusalem there were also Jews from the diaspora (scattered among the nations) — speaking more than 16 different languages —, the apostles, inspired by the Holy Spirit, did not teach them to oppose the customs of their states, but spoke to them in their own language (Acts 2:1–11), thereby respecting the right of each people to its own particularities — such as language — and confirming that God has allowed all nations to go their own way (Acts 14:16). Therefore, the recognition of national states is by no means a sin, as the Kingdom of Heaven is not opposed to the earthly governance of peoples. Its all-encompassing boundaries embrace all other kingdoms and peoples, without abolishing them.
From the mixing of languages at the Tower of Babel, the existence of nations grouped into nation-states is something natural. The diversity of languages has created different traditions in different territories or homelands, where people of the same language have mainly gathered. However, often between different peoples, sin has created hostility, raising walls of hatred and malice, giving rise to chauvinism and exaggerated, distorted, and abusive nationalism, an exclusivist nationalism.

In Christianity, however, words like these have been heard: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28). Here there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all (Colossians 3:11).
From this it is not to be understood that peoples should be abolished, but only that they are called to love one another and to live in brotherhood and fraternal collaboration, for the good of each and for the glory of God, Who loves all nations equally.
