@SPQRSA I very much doubt the DA's position on this. They might reform BEE, but will never scrap it if they had the chance. No party will ever hold a sole majority again. Rather vote for a sub-10% party that espouses your idealogy, than a 20% party that doesn't.

You make a valid point... nationally, vote with your conscience. One of the most contentious and divisive issues is BEE. I have no, zero, fokol doubt, that scrapping BEE will grow and organically transform the economy, as well as reducing primarily black unemployment. Despite acerbic populist criticism, the DA have held their ground on this. This is just one issue that requires support at National level.

I am what FF+ voters call a useful idiot. An Afrikaans bloke, that has always voted for the DA, in national and local elections. I don't agree with a lot of their decision making, but still regard them as the only party with the *political will* and *capacity* to make a difference in the lives of *all South Africans*. For this reason, I reserve the right to criticize the DA when they stoop to the level of cheap, partisan politicking as the Regressive Caucus. No better than Mbalula and Lesufi. I am not oblivious of what they need to do to grow. Believe me when I say, I can see the bigger picture. Lately, however, the DA have increasingly been giving me the feeling that my vote is immaterial to them. (Ward 42, Waterkloof, Pretoria)

@RomanCabanac Boertjies are bound by more than language. It's a culture. Our school have kids from various backgrounds, even Chinese and Thai. Afrikaans culture is sublime.

This must be a planned strategy by the DA at large, including Zille, Ryan Coetzee and Steenhuizen. To go for the FF+ and Groenewald, who is very popular with I daresay most Afrikaners, even though many will still in any event vote for the DA. Maybe the DA is confident that they can afford to lose Afrikaner voters bc of perceived and in some cases, actual improved numbers with black voters. Time will tell, but I would advise Afrikaans DA leaders and members to remember how Rhodes fooled both Jan Hofmeyr and Smuts before the Jameson Raid opened their eyes. That was then Imperialism, now it is their great grandchildren the DA still caring only about one thing; stable markets, not language, not schools or our culture, but markets.

@Jonathan_Witt @skaapjas The @Our_DA has become a grotesque, deformed baby ANC. Their woke politics is not the answer to a prosperous future for South Africa. Attacking @GroenewaldPJ is sloppy from Geordin, but just another layer peeled away to reveal the true rot at the core of the DA.

It can not be stated enough just how bad this messaging is from GHL: - the FF+ is a natural ally of the DA, not a foe - it is well known that the DA has lost support to the FF+ because of Steenhuisen’s behaviour, but this will not convince a return - opinions vary but many consider Groenewald to be the best Minister in the GNU and not any of the DA Minsters. Attacking him comes across as jealous and petty - the issue being raised by GHL was not created by Groenewald or the FF+, but he is trying to sort it out. Imagine this logic of attack being applied to Macpherson who still has no control over thousands of assets of state owned infrastructure, or Schreiber who has numerically done nothing to stem/reverse illegal immigration - criticizing someone outside the DA for holding a “talk shop” is very rich when the DA does this exact thing often - lastly is that Helen Zille will likely be the Mayor of Johannesburg by year end. Just imagine all of the things she will not be able to fix in her first 2 years - GHL just opened the floodgates on hammering her without rebuke Whomever advised this as a strategy needs to be fired immediately, and the DA really needs to learn how to predict the future consequences of their words and actions better. My goodness.

Back in 2016, I already saw the true colors of John Steenhuisen when he protected one of the DA party members involved in sports corruption. He was so arrogant and also tried to discredit me. So glad the farmers gave him a snotklap in court!
