Does anyone know of a calculator or spreadsheet that helps determine the optimum age structure for your cow herd? Taking into account weaning weight, conception rate, dystocia, depreciation, stocking rate, etc etc. @jarluh @Nebraskero @profpitch @CorriganLucinda @Ranching4Profit

@pbl1972 Actually looks very good Phil. Could be ideal for high stocking rates or pastoral country. Probably not efficient steers for anything more than short feeding regime.

@profpitch Top 3% for IMF. Top 6% for MCW. Top 20% DTC and EMA. With slightly better CED and CEM he would almost fit my definition of “balanced”.

@DenisHe36240886 @sheepGeekCP @AaabgConf Yep, high milk ewes will do that. Just need to make sure they have opportunity to recover condition
English

@profpitch @sheepGeekCP @AaabgConf Interesting research Wayne. I have long noticed a phenomenon that doesn’t seem to be pinned down by current available info, ie the ability of some ewes to transform their muscle/fat into milk during lactation and then recharge it post weaning. Low BCS ewes rearing top lambs.

I’m a bit concerned about premiums people are paying for bulls and rams so I published a paper for @AaabgConf publish.csiro.au/AN/AN22458?jid…

We are having 2 demo days of the @UniofAdelaide biological harvesting. 1/9 at Conargo, NSW bitly.ws/LRDn. Finalising time and place in WA for October. #AgTwitter

@pbl1972 @severnangus @AaabgConf Scanning later won’t help, we have data to show this. Key is they change physiology during first pregnancy and lactation. Repeatable after that
English

@profpitch @severnangus @AaabgConf What would the average weight and age of yearling cattle at scanning be? Would later scanning help?

Each morning on the neXtgen Agri Hub I've been releasing a slide from our Farm Fit Ewes workshop. This one was loaded a couple of weeks back. I think it is worth sharing more widely. Do you ever feel like an imposter?
