Couldn’t agree more. For someone who wants to learn and dig in, there are plenty of options now for different skill levels, and that’s a great path. Start at your comfort level and keep pushing forward. Where I see potential problems is buying a prebuilt node, plugging it in, and forgetting about it, or clicking through a container install and calling it good. It probably works fine on day one, but if you don’t continue the learning process like you said, there’s no way to know whether it still works properly or has developed issues a year later.

@proofofmike @AtlasPool_io IMHO it’s all part of the learning process. Setups like UmbrelOS provide a great viable platform to get going and learn from.

Curious where everyone lands on this. I keep seeing “mine on your own node,” which can be great. Every miner should learn how to stand up and secure a box, build Bitcoin, tweak configs, and understand stratum. But if you’re just clicking through a GUI with default settings and trusting package maintainers or vendors to provide updates, haven’t you simply traded pool operator trust for package maintainer / vendor trust? Is that really decentralization, or are we just cosplaying as sovereign? True decentralization requires understanding. Solo pools fill a vital gap by providing a battle tested, low ops entry point while you learn, install, break, fix, rinse, repeat with your own setup.

So much for 5.6 being on par with the other models. Literally told me I’d be better off switching to Claude. Doesn’t it know we wouldn’t even be having this problem if I hadn’t already burned through my Claude usage? @OpenAI

@proofofmike FWIW grok 4.5 is near enough where opus 4.8 is in terms of vibe coding. It’s way more cost effective I’ve cancelled Claude and will be using grok build from now

This week I’ve seen everything from industry veteran software engineers to Pop Warner football coaches using AI to build software. That’s incredible… and a little terrifying. How many API keys, secrets, and passwords are getting pasted into prompts every day? Please be careful out there. 😬

Haven’t gone deep with Grok beyond quick tags. Already paying for ChatGPT and Claude, so adding SuperGrok feels like too much. At this rate I’ll have more AI subs than streaming services. I just want Claude’s coding chops, ChatGPT’s memory, and Grok’s IDGAF attitude in one model. 😂

I’ve screamed at ChatGPT for fumbling the first mover lead. I’m convinced it goes rogue just to mess with me. Ask for one simple function change + “Do nothing else. Show me the diff”… and it rewrites the whole repo, renames untouched variables, and drops an inspirational TED Talk. Until my Claude block resets, I’m stuck on the welfare version. 😂

I haven’t. To be fair, it took me a long time to try HashWatcher too. Not because I didn’t see the value. I was still running the same homegrown Rube Goldberg setup of Python, Bash, Nagios, duct tape, and bubblegum that I’d pieced together over the years. 😄 Part of it was being stuck in my ways, and part of it was knowing I’d spend entirely too much time staring at it on my phone. I finally gave in, and I’m glad I did. It’s genuinely added value for me.

Every time I see a @HashWatcher notification on my lock screen my heart rate goes through the roof. Then I open it… temperature change. Tiny hashrate bump. Fleet recap. This app might be in league with my ex — pure torture. 🤣

@HashWatcher No, I purposely have them on. They’re genuinely valuable and exactly the stuff I care about. I’m just saying… come on. 🤣 In this era, I’m a couple years into about an 800-year average time to find a block, so I’m expecting my block notification any day now.

Well Ladies and Gents its the ankle has a Medial Fracture so i will be in a boot for 6-8 weeks lol
