@soulsobreezy I feel like I would be more into the housing content if it was shorter and more bitesized but also I just feel like I dont have as much time to engage in housing becuase of the breakneck pace of content both filler and endgame.

Quite the difference between my main channel (left) and housing channel (right). This mostly translates to only a % of my normal audience watches housing content, and of that % is a pretty even split.

Kinda bold to say the previous date was "expected" when for all we know that date was put in during the Biden administration. But real talk if the patch is in fact pushed back, doesn't look like they're doing crunch. If so I'm glad they're sticking to that.
Wowhead💙@Wowhead

The date for Turbulent Timeways has been pushed back to June 30th on the 12.0.7 PTR, a whole 2 weeks later than its previously expected date. #Midnight #Warcraft wowhead.com/news/turbulent…

@soulsobreezy Perhaps a luke warm take, if they were going to pass on the gold costs to gear then tmog should just free. I know the old argument of it's an mmo, blahblahblah, but there is enough stuff to grind since they give you nothing for free with the renown anymore.

@ProfBreen587 @soulsobreezy Remix is an ethereal mode. You dont have to worry about long-term effects in a short-term mode. In retail however, the server is designed to last 10, 20, 30+ more years so gold sinks are how they directly combat the inflation from mobs, quests, and other sources generating gold.

Some of us warned that from all the backlash against transmog costs being too high, they'd shift gold sinks away from the more niche behavior and towards everyone. This's also a gentle reminder wow is an online mmorpg with upkeep, not a cod lobby
Wowhead💙@Wowhead

Repairs are getting awfully expensive, particularly as players are reaching higher item levels, with progression raid nights costing tens of thousands of gold! #Midnight #Warcraft wowhead.com/news/repair-bi…

@podopriguez @lovabler0gue And to be clear, I love interactive fiction and walking sims. I fully intend on playing Mixtape myself. But it's just letting you not fail on "action" moments is a bit silly. It could have been a good accessibility setting, but it shouldn't have never been the default.

@podopriguez @lovabler0gue Notably, though, the critique (which I dont fully agree with) is that this isn't a game. If IGN called Sinners a 10/10 video game, I assume you would have an issue with that The debate isn't that this isn't punk enough; it's that it's not punk at all. It is interactive fiction.

classic gate-keeping. when The Artful Escape came out I knew it’d be perfect for my wife: music lover, feel-good stories, not a hardcore gamer. she finished it in two evenings and immediately started again. I already got her Mixtape. gamers need to grow up and understand that the medium has gone a long way. a good game isn’t just reflexes and lose conditions.

Explaining why I, personally, hate Mixtape in just under 3 minutes of totally uninterrupted "gameplay" (Spoilers):

@soulsobreezy @wow_sayto If they want to be more solo-friendly, they need to focus on compelling, earned narratives. The fact that every patch since WW has been Xalath kills a minor character or fake-out kills a major one, or undoing years-long traumas and hatred in 20 quests just feels hollow.

@soulsobreezy @wow_sayto I would agree to an extent, but I think that it proves that you can tell a compelling story and its not as simple as "its a game first". Part of the problem is everyone who is complaining about the story, including myself, has a slightly different reason. But clearly its possible

Looks like the copium (pessimist) versus copium (optimist) war continues on the lore stage. As an optimist I can't really say who's got the more accurate pov, but I can sorta take a step back and identify who looks miserable

@soulsobreezy Personally,i think there is a middle ground. If a major tragedy happens, it's normal to sit with it for a while. But people dont sit in it forever. THAT is where the reverie can come, but if, say 20 mins after Thanos snapped, they partied, it subtracts from the tragedy negitively

This is a critique I really get behind. It's very *human* to focus on keeping spirits up with reverie and ceremony after a tragedy or phyrric victory. But in a world of heroes and story the audience expects consistent focus on the next goal.
Eric Covington@covingtown

An example in which the local conflict is resolved and the villain escapes to pursue their true goal. However, the tone here is a sense of overwhelming dread. The stakes now hang their heaviest. No ceremony, no relief, no closure. Just despair. "Did we just lose?"

@MeesRp @ryanalxander91 Yeah, this is the problem with "boy who cried dead character." At a certain point, the OH WOW moments become obvious fakeouts (even if this time they are not). it removes all the wind from the sails Kadgar should have remained dead and we need to allow defeat to breathe.

@soulsobreezy @wow_sayto How do you reconcile this with FFXIV winning BAFTA, SxSW awards MMOscars, and multiple more for its story? At what point is it rational to expect competency on par with one's competitors? As someone who plays games for their story games are an incredible medium for storytelling

@wow_sayto It's the result of Warcraft being a game first, and as an MMO it's gotta move the story along. I don't think we'll ever get a truly good slow-burn of a story that won't have gamers sick of it before long

@traach04 @BellularGaming It would be like giving out rep tokens, mounts/pets, undercoin and other "casual stuff" in raid and M+ because "sweats dont like casual stuff." Imo its equally silly. Either do the thing that gives the reward or wait until Blizzard waters down the stuff you dont like.

@traach04 @BellularGaming Absolutely, but I do avoid them for the week or two until my guild completes the raid. I dont understand why we dont have an expectation that "story mode gamers" can avoid internet spoilers for a week while we reward players who play the Social game socially.

@xKaedos My question to you is, if we are changing the game because spoilers happen, where is the line? Should quest zones come out one at a time to avoid spoiler cutscenes? I had the quest cinematics spoiled. Why punish those who do the content rather than advise how to avoid spoilers?

Why is story mode put out a week later? I don't believe it should be. This post is a follow up to the last. The last was combative and, tbh, I think we all have woken up on the wrong side of the bed before. That post was a poor reflection of me.

@traach04 @BellularGaming Most guilds dont raid on Tuesday. The week lets the "sweaties" raid throughout the week. Most common raid days are wendsday and sunday iirc. Also worth noting that most guilds dont clear 8 boss raids in a week fwiw.

@BellularGaming should be a 1 day wait instead of 1 week. that way the sweaties will still see it first, but the rest of us and also be caught up on the story stuff fairly soon after

@xKaedos There is no problem with this. If someone who doesn't have time and only wants story mode wants to watch a cutscene or Let's Play instead of waiting the week, that's totally fine! But we shouldnt punish raiders becuase some folks dont want to. Stop policing rewards

Believe it or not, you are NOT going to get more players into M+/Raiding/endgame content by forcing them to go those routes for the story. Many of those are likely just going to settle with watching the cinematic from outside sources.

@xKaedos No one is locking casuals out of anything. If they want to avoid the game, they can wait a week or watch it online. Getting the cutscene and complete lore as intended is a benefit of raiding; if it weren't, they would decouple raids from the story entirely.
