Tonight GPL hosted Phoenix City Council candidates from Districts 2, 4, 6 & 8 at our March General Membership Meeting — It was great to engage directly with these candidates who will shape the future of the City. Thank you to all who joined us!

@SurgeShow congrats on being elected as AZGOP Chair. I hope you’re more helpful with local elections than your predecessor. The Take Back Phoenix slate looks forward to a great partnership as we try to return local government to the people.

Do 🚔 want to work in Phoenix? Phoenix is understaffed by ~600 police officers, and it's been that way for many years. The Phoenix city council also has self-proclaimed police abolitionists. The chief of staff for D7 Anna Hernandez, Luke Black states on his website that "His primary focus for the last six years has been police abolition. In 2019, he started also organizing White People Against White Supremacy." Phoenix is in competitive environment and it would be a shame to lose officers to other cities because of the working conditions here. A lot of officers I talk to tell me they just want to do their jobs and have promotions be based on merit not politics. What do you think? Is Phoenix changing its image and welcoming officers? Or, will this issue of an understaffed police department continue for years to come?

Washington can be very disappointing. Despite the frustrating nature of government, @SecKennedy faithfully works toward his mission. This year, for his birthday, many of us thought the best thing we could do was to pray for him. Blessings on your success. @RobertKennedyJr

@MerissaCaldwell @Mattforphoenix @PHXDistrict4 Not everything is a left vs right issue. The left controls the council right now and voted to keep the reverse lanes.

@prozach5 @Mattforphoenix @PHXDistrict4 The left is trying to reduce these lanes and replace them with nothing because it will cause more traffic making their 15 min gulag cities more viable Don't fall for the trap.

Definitely appreciate your perspective. I come from a state where we had to take Driver’s Education to get a driver’s license. I think that would be useful in Arizona so people know how to use the reverse lanes, zipper merge, understand lane usages on interstates/freeways…all problems I see on a daily basis

@prozach5 @Mattforphoenix @PHXDistrict4 I drive from north Phoenix, and I see lots of people use them. I think education on how to use them would be better than removing them. The signs are confusing, and that's really the root cause of the problem.

Interesting…you’re the first person who I’ve heard that supports them. I live around the corner and rarely even see cars use them. Lanes can be backed up and I will still see only 1-2 cars using the reverse lane. And everytime I use it, I have to get out of it because someone is using it improperly.

@Mattforphoenix @prozach5 @PHXDistrict4 Our org is on a street with reverse lanes. Traffic would be unbearable without them. I strongly support them staying unless they add another lane.

Yup @dbongino I feel you brother. Since starting my campaign for Phoenix City Council just about a year ago this has been the biggest eye opener. Every consultant I’ve talked to said minimum spend to win a City Council race in Phoenix is $200,000. There’s 8 candidates running right now in my district. That’s $1.6 million dollars. $1.4 million of that will be spent on losses. What a giant waste of people’s money. Some will spend significantly more than that. The last winner in district 6 raised $900,000. FOR A CITY COUNCIL SEAT. Insane. - I won’t do it. I refuse to do it. With money comes strings. These people are puppets for developers, political machines, contractors and vendors. We need political outsiders. We need every day people to actually put the constituents first and tackle the actual issues. I’m not talking about adding a pickleball court to a park or adding sidewalks. - like some candidates. I’m talking about homelessness, affordable housing, crime, and emergency response times. These are the issues plaguing D4 and much of Phoenix. These are the issues that can only be fixed by an outsider with no strings attached. Time to expose the fraud, abuse, and mismanagement of your tax dollars and actually make changes so you are better served. It’s time to #TakeBackPhoenix
