"This report highlights that we need to completely redesign our economy. We need a care led recovery. We can no longer just settle for government making tweaks around the edges. That is not enough." @zarahsultana #CovidCoventryWomen

"Issues around debt, violence and poverty came up over and over again in my research." Our brilliant colleague @Anna_J_Johnston who wrote the report #CovidCoventryWomen is providing an account of the conversations she had with women in Coventry

A good four months in and the heaviness of my eyes and the deep lines on my brow are stark evidence of what life as a #carehome manager has been like. It has been utterly exhausting in every way @BorisJohnson come and spend a day with me. You need a wake up call #COVID19

Given the rising costs carers are having to meet during the pandemic, we're deeply disappointed that the Chancellor didn't use his Statement to acknowledge the financial strain on unpaid carers and increase Carer’s Allowance. Read our full statement here: carersuk.org/news-and-campa…

It has been heartbreaking to witness the toll this virus has taken on staff mental health. Tomorrow, we’re setting out our ‘Care For Carers’ proposal. It’s a dedicated mental health support service for all health and care staff. Read more here: mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…

Dear British media, Please can you stop talking about “bailing out” councils. The banks needed bailing out because they failed. By contrast, councils need extra funding due to their success in getting emergency relief & ongoing support to people. It’s not the same thing.

Today's @adass1 report is even more gloomy than usual. Only 4% #socialcare directors are fully confident of meeting statutory duties this year and none next year. This would worsen the long-term trend of more demand but fewer people getting services. adass.org.uk/media/7973/no-…
