It is not correct to say that innovation funding is stuck in the 2010s. Contrarily, there's a quiet revolution underway since 2016—and it is gaining momentum for past 3-4 years. Yes, the NIDHI PRAYAS scheme @IndiaDST is important — but it was just the beginning. NIDHI Seed Support has offered funding up to ₹1 crore. NIDHI ITBI (2021): Incubators in 50+ tier-2/3 cities now fuel grassroots innovation. The powerful National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NMICPS), launched in 2019 has supported over 800 deep-tech startups via Tech Innovation Hubs, with grants ranging from ₹ 40 lakh to even more than ₹ 1 crore per startup. Under our National Quantum Mission #NQM, we have recently funded startups in quantum technologies with substantial funding to each startup (with some even receiving Rs 25 Cr). And here's the latest. The Budget 2025-26 has earmarked ₹ 20,000 Cr against DST to drive private-sector-led R&D and innovation—part of a ₹1 lakh Cr corpus RDI Fund, This was an important but largely overlooked news by the media & through this transformative step, India is boldly bridging the lab-to-market gap at scale. Additionally, the upcoming Deep Tech Fund of Funds signals that India is investing in the future. India's innovation pipeline is not stuck; it's scaling. It's inclusive, and it is future-focused. @IndiaDST has been playing, and continues to play, a very crucial role in science, technology, and innovation-driven India's growth journey
