@jnjoiner @HarvardPG I know you’ve done a lot of really impressive work on this these last few years. What have teachers said are the major barriers? Would assume structure of secondary schools, managing 120-150 relationships is tops?

@mollywmus If you have the divided inbox with social and promotional emails that just pile up, you can mass delete those entire inboxes. Did that this weekend. Very satisfying.

This is Ms. Kessiah - I was subbing in her class at the @curleyk8 when she saved the life of a student who was choking. She is one of 10k+ educators who perform incredible acts for our students every single day and the reason why I’m proud to work for the @BostonSchools!!!

@chriscmartell I suspect this undercounts the numbers of people on long term leaves, and it certainly misses the overall stress put on teachers and other staff from staffing shortages, and necessary absences to prevent COVID spread. The numbers will rise.

Here in Mass., 19-20 teacher turnover was flat-but that doesn't mean it: 1. won't get worse this year/next (not sure about 20-21 yet). 2. won't have a larger impact on urban/rural districts. (Nice that diversity increased-proves we should get rid of MTEL!) wbur.org/news/2021/10/2…

For many teachers, 2020-2021 was the toughest school year that they've experienced. We did nothing to make it/treat them better and this year might be worse in many ways. I'm curious how much of the "Great Resignation" is teachers (numbers from August)? cbsnews.com/news/quitting-…
