Nigerians, Wake Up!
Over the last 2 years, a dangerous and divisive narrative has spread across Nigeria, a narrative of religious persecution, of Nigerian Christians being massacred by “Islamic jihadists” and “ISIS terrorists” for their faith in a “Christian genocide”, a narrative which did not originate in Nigeria, but in Washington DC. For the last 2 years, and in recent months most especially, the administration of US President Donald Trump has been relentlessly pushing this narrative.
Why is it doing this, and why should every Nigerian be very concerned?
The answer lies in the history of geopolitics over the last 8 decades, and in this video, YouTubers Sonny Faz and Bek Lover shed light on this answer.

It is truly disappointing that the Lagos APC is abusing state institutions by sealing off the venue where the ADC was scheduled to hold a meeting tomorrow after obtaining the necessary approvals. This is not only an abuse of power, it is a clear attempt to stifle opposition voices in Lagos.
We understand that the APC is jittery about the momentum the ADC and obidients is building across the state, but deploying state security agencies to frustrate lawful political activities is unacceptable and undemocratic.
Lagos belongs to all of us, not a select few. And it is our constitutional right to assemble lawfully.
Let it be clear that no amount of intimidation or harassment will stop us from engaging with the people of Lagos. Our movement is powered by the people, and no barricade or show of force can weaken their resolve for a better Lagos.

@firstladyship Disadvantages of this policy
Increase the cost of transportation, goods and services.
Purchasing power will fall.
The burden will fall more heavily on low-income Nigerian.

From January 2026, you will pay N500 tax on every N10,000 you spend at petrol stations.
Nigerians will pay 5% tax on every liter of fuel purchased from January under the new tax law.
Subsidy is gone, but you will pay additional taxes. They told you that Taiwo Oyedele’s Tax Reform will help the poor, & you believed them?
Your docility is the approval they need to continue to tax you. Price of CNG has gone up.
How many of you can afford clean or renewable energy like solar power? They drew inspiration from Sweden’s Carbon Tax introduced in the 90s as part of their broader tax reform.
In Nigeria, the case is different!
They haven’t built purchasing power, jobs & distributed wealth. They are taxing revenues from poverty bcos you gave them the power.
They tax you like USA, & deliver the Economy of Congo. They said the additional 5% surcharge is to discourage fossil fuel consumption.
Therefore, it’s a type of Carbon Tax.
But that’s a lie. They are simply taxing you for additional revenues. Because countries that have Carbon Tax in place, countries like Sweden have already built prosperity for all.
To help you understand what I mean, I will explain further with examples.
(PPP) = Purchasing Power Parity.
(GDP) = Gross Domestic Product.
GDP is the total market value of all goods & services produced within a country, over a specific period. It can be yearly or quarterly.
Nominal GDP is the market value of all finished goods & services produced in a country. But it doesn’t measure the living standards because cost of living across countries vary.
PPP takes local prices into consideration. It is the most accurate way of comparing what citizens of any country can actually afford.
It measures local economies & living standards. PPP measures the cost of goods & services in different countries. It measures the size of Nigeria’s Economy against other economies.
The Naira can buy more goods & services locally. Its Nominal value is its market value. PPP is larger than Nominal in comparison.
Inflation rate in Sweden is 3%
Inflation rate in Nigeria is 21%
Interest rate in Sweden is 2.25%
Interest rate in Nigeria (MPR) is 27%
Sweden is a $787 billion (PPP) GDP.
Sweden is a $620 billion (Nominal) GDP.
Nigeria is a $188 billion (Nominal) GDP.
Nigeria is a $372 billion (Rebased) GDP.
GDP per Capita (Nominal) in Sweden is $54K.
GDP per Capita (PPP) in Sweden is $74,900.
GDP per Capita (Nominal) in Nigeria is $835.
GDP per Capita (PPP) in Nigeria is $6,790.
“Reduce their purchasing power, widen the tax net, and further slow down the Economy.”
True to his words, he kept his promises.
I will leave this to you, to do the math.

This is the full video. I shared a snippet about 2 months ago.
I had shocks from this interview:
1. I met my guest, Yusuf Abubakar from Kano collecting money on the street from tricyclists in Igboland.
2. In this area alone, Carter Street and its environs, Ogui, Enugu, there are over 4OO tricycles operated by Northerners.
3. He sent his Hausa wife to an Igbo woman to learn how to prepare his best igbo food "Abacha".
Why then do they tell us that Igbos dominate and suppress others from growth?
