@BananaPrinciple @JerryCap man Analyzing Good Businesses was actually a quality stock newsletter, one of the better ones out there. kind of surprised how he's also now become associated with these guys

netflix has to be one of the best run companies on the planet. they’re incredibly disciplined in almost every single way, & likely the most thoughtful in execution.
they pumped the price up & forced one of their rivals (paramount) to carry more debt for the acquisition while walking away with a $2.8B breakup fee from the takeover.
& the likelihood of netflix acquiring paramount + warner bros in the future as a distressed asset is non zero. stock is up 10%.

@wolfofharcourt @omkar_jagdale why not? they're sitting on an ever growing cash pile, Brazil is already profitable. what else should they be investing in?
English

@omkar_jagdale Exactly, $NU cited similar reasons when they pulled out a year or so earlier. I'd be surprised to see $SE go back into Argentina this soon.
English

Possible reasons behind $SE 10% selloff yesterday:
1. At a Barclays event, an exec answered a theoretical worst-case question on margins, saying they’d be flat (with GMV still rising) in that unlikely scenario. The context was lost, and rumors spread that margins would be flat in reality. Credit @WaterworldCapi1 for sharing this (can’t retweet as the account is private).
2. Separate chatter suggests Shopee could be entering Argentina, which may explain why $MELI also dropped on the day.
Neither of these, in my view, justify a 10% selloff.
Markets often react first and clarify later.

“We have nobody in the club with the desire and hunger to score like him!” - @clivepafc on Gyokeres and the importance of his mentality.

@he3is_ @FabrizioRomano yep so many talents killed - saliba, saka, gabriel, MLS, rice, raya, ode. just so many lost players
English

@FabrizioRomano I bet it with my whole life that this guy won't place a full season in arsenal. not that he is not good but because arsenal is meant to kill talents

🚨 Arsenal agree deal to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, here we go! ❤️🤍 Zubimendi has now verbally agreed to sign a long term deal… so formal steps must follow soon with Arsenal to trigger €60m clause. Zubi, ready to become the first signing of the new season.

@1892xYNWA @markgoldbridge obviously a completely unbiased take
English

@markgoldbridge Given that this is the weakest Champions League in years and that Liverpool went into the new season with no new signings, a new coach, and an ageing Diogo Jota and the latest version of Jason Lee as our strikers. It has to be Liverpool winning the League
English

@thinkror @MikeFritzell it's a completely isolated conflict so this whole take that it's 'meant to exhaust fighting capabilities' of anyone like it's some piece in a jigsaw puzzle is just weird
English

@MikeFritzell @punchycapital Not really clear cut who the allies are here. India has had fairly close ties with russia in military and buying energy.
English

Just another front meant to exhaust the fighting capabilities of NATO and its allies

Pakistani and Indian forces are reportedly massing on either sides of the Lines of Control. Fighting appears imminent.

@InRisuVeritas @BetterPitchGuy doing god's work mate, you clearly just don't understand
English

@FromValue it's usually the random left tail events that get you, not the big things that everyone is already thinking about
English

@ChrisDunnTV @joecarlsonshow their whole model is to have a ton of filler content to occupy as many hours of your day as possible, but for every 10 shit shows you will have a Squid Game or a Baby Reindeer or a The Gentlemen or a Wednesday or choose any other of their massive hits as an example
English

@joecarlsonshow My concern is the quality of content seems to be dipping too…
How many MrBallen-type murder stories can they tell before people get burned out?
English

The biggest lie you've been told about Netflix $NFLX
"Netflix has to keep spending more and more money to create content as they grow, they're on a hamster wheel of content spend!"
Reality: Netflix is spending the same amount on content as they did in 2019. Across that same time period of content spend being flat they've gained +$16b in revenue, +$7b in free cash flow, margins have gone from 12% to 20%, and added 100 million subscribers.

@City_Chief lol too funny. The relegation and stripping of all titles is going to hit like crack
English

@themagic_tophat Thanks, v helpful. So from your point of view there is little chance of City finding a way to influence this IC, i.e. it should be a proper objective process
English

After CAS, there were questions around independence of 2 arbitrators due to apparent conflicts of interest and process of appointment. There were no legitimate allegations of being corrupt, on the payroll or anything like that.
IC will be selected by Murray Rosen KC who heads up the PL’s judiciary panel. He will almost certainly select arbitrators from a small group of folks already on the PL’s judiciary panel - vetted experts such as judges, KCs, accountants, fraud investigators and such.
But if he believes there is a need to appoint someone not already on the panel then he can.
Appeals appear to be chaired by Lord Dyson (former Supreme Court Justice).

In reality, Man City are accused of more than 115 breaches of the rules as you can see in the photo attached. It highlights 129 individual rule breaches that Man City are accused of.
But it’s not the number of breaches that matters to be honest - it’s more about the implications of the breaches that affects and informs any potential sanction.
In this thread, I will examine the nature of the breaches and their implications; then explore what a suitable sanction might be, and why.
In order to explain the breaches, l will connect them with the alleged actions that results in the breaches… 🧵
