Unless you quickly re-enter the job market, fixed liabilities don’t pause; they compound stress and can upend an otherwise steady life. While you earn, you must pay taxes. The moment you lose your job, you’re on your own. In fact, you even have to pay tax on the severance also. Maybe it’s time to introduce reforms, such as mandating severance pay ranging from three months to one year based on an employee’s tenure, as is the norm in the West; allowing EMI pauses for a 3-6 months; and providing a time-bound monthly allowance from the govt for involuntary job losses. If Ladla/Ladlis can get free money, free ration, free water, and electricity, without paying any income tax, why not support a worker who has been paying taxes and contributing?

A salaried employee in India has ZERO ability to hide income. TDS happens before they see a rupee. And yet, they receive more IT scrutiny than a businessman who deals only in cash. Explain this logic.

Need of the hour !

If you drive without a helmet, camera will detect. If you drive without a seat belt, camera will detect. If you overspeed, camera will detect. If you use your phone while driving, camera will detect. They detect every mistake people make, and you get a challan. So why can’t the same traffic cameras detect the potholes on the road?

We need a system where every time a vehicle hits a pothole, a small compensation is automatically credited to the owner’s bank account for maintenance.
