@dailytelegraph headline. ‘The £150,000 Civil Service Pension’, or to put in another way ‘0.004% of Civil Servants earning £150,000 pension’ 🙂

Wow - that’s quite something…🙄 Books a train on BH Mon from Cornwall to London Decides to get a different train - that is clearly already full. Complains PUBLICLY to her 60K followers, tagging the train company, that there were no seats on the full train she hadn’t booked on to!

@JoeOwensMe I thought Liverpool had always been proud of its history of migration? A port city which welcomed people from Ireland, China, Africa, Caribbean & beyond? Also serving as a departure point for thousands leaving the city? It’s the cultural mix which has made it the great city it is

Liverpool is undergoing a cultural transformation unparalleled in its history. If this change is not addressed and stopped, it will spell the end of our city as a Scouse one. The cultural assault on our glorious city has played out before in once proud and historic communities across Britain; the once unique and proud Cockney community of the East End of London is now nonexistent, serving as one of many examples that have led to an irreversible change and loss of distinct character, status, and identity in historic communities, only to be replaced by a culture that is unfamiliar, unwelcoming, and even hostile. We cannot let Liverpool, our one and only Scouse home, undergo a similar fate. Therefore, I call upon all my Scouse brothers and sisters, whom I love with all my heart, to stand firm against the reckless politicians who are dooming our wonderful city to cultural disaster, risking the relegation of our Scouse history, its future, and the legacy rightfully belonging to our children, grandchildren, and all those amazing Scousers yet to be born. Come the next council elections, we must rally under a United Scouse Front, standing up as Scousers do, and defend our Scouse home to the end. #Liverpool #Scousers #ScousePride #EastEndofLondon #NoToCulturalChange #CockneySparrows

What is it with @BBCRadio2 & @shaunkeaveny ? He’s everywhere on the station but he is incredibly DULL. Has the sort of voice perfect for the 2.00am slot on @BBC6Music but please don’t let him anywhere near daytime radio!

@afneil They could start by closing the borders, deporting illegals, scrapping the insane deal with France, ending net zero madness, ending benefits for foreigners, radical reduction in nonessential civil servants, particularly in the MOD and the list goes on!

@HeatherJeeves Try the New Statesman then, or the Guardian. I’ve been doing this 25 years and I can assure you I have never had quotes like this from sober and serious public servants

So tedious to read this stuff. I have been unsparing for years in my criticism of the Tory record on defence. Including in today’s article. But that doesn’t get Labour off the hook. You can’t put things right unless you allocate the budgets. Starmer-Reeves are not doing that. Yes, procurement of complex military machines takes time. But it won’t happen at all without more defence spending.
Dominic@pcl100

@afneil You do know we have a Tory government defence. It takes 10 years to approve design build and commission a complex warship. As with most public services the Tories spent 14 years hollowing out almost every public service. Impossible to replace in 22 months 🤔

Ian McKellen became emotional while filming The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, reportedly saying, “This is not why I became an actor,” as he struggled with shooting scenes largely alone while the dwarves were added in later through visual effects.

@BBCRadio2 why is Shaun Keaveny all over the airwaves at the moment? He has the most boring, soporific, low key energy of any DJ. Possibility he’d be ok in the 2.00 am on @BBC6Music but nowhere else please 💤

@FraserNelson In your column you say ‘women in headscarves are a far more common sight than they were a generation ago’ But, for those of us old enough to remember, far less common than they were 2-3 generations ago.

Being blind to Britain's integration failures led to huge problems. Being blind to our actual successes could lead to bigger ones A British model of tolerance and coexistence is being quietly built - while sectarians gather on both sides. My column:- times-comment.com/a2

Denby appoints Administrators. Heraldic and Royal Staffordshire potteries went into liquidation. Moorcroft needed emergency rescue. Why does this government just watch as another industry is severely damaged by its high taxes and energy costs?

@jcartlidgemp If you read today’s @thetimes you’ll see the CEO OF Octopus energy explain that Norway invests heavily in RENEWABLES which is why their electricity prices have only 📈 by 10% why ours have 📈 by 50% because of Iran. Do your homework James.

How is Norway able to fund such a Defence budget when we aren’t? One factor is they’re still drilling in the North Sea - we buy their fossil fuels from the same basin we deny ourselves the economic benefit from. Madness.
Navy Lookout@NavyLookout

🇳🇴Norway has decided to further increase its defence spending by 115 NOK (c£8.9Bn) to 3.5% GDP by 2035. This guarantees funding of 5 or 6 Type 26 frigates as well as 6 Type 212CD submarines.

The civil service is so massive, pensions alone are now costing the taxpayer £56 billion a year. We need to massively shrink the state. This is totally unsustainable.
