This is the best thread you will ever read on Twitter. Twitter could just be shut down now, it will never get better than this.

“No one would take those odds, like, here, have a one-in-20 chance of going to hospital. So I think there’s some really serious misconceptions about the risk of COVID right now and we have to tackle that better.”

“I guess what people are kind of losing track of is the risk-benefit part of the equation,” said Saxinger, reached via telephone on Thursday. “And a lot of that risk has been shifted by the Delta variant, which is so much more transmissible and aggressive at spreading.”

@YveBlake I had a 13” tv in my room from about 1984 forward; mostly it was used as a monitor for a Commodore computer.

Research Q for anyone who remembers 1995: Did people have TVs in their bedroom in this era? More specifically - could a 15 year old have had a TV in their room? if they were an upper-middle class kid? or would that have been absurd and unheard of? thanks twitter dot com 🙏

2) I think animals are much more intelligent than we give them credit for. Think not just chimps, but dolphins and orcas and octopus. Why should we be the only intelligent species? Our primate & ape ancestors were not much smarter—they just had more practical hands & vocal cords.

Animals are smarter than you think—a crow wants to eat a nut 🌰 but needs to crack it— so this crow in Japan drops the nut at a crosswalk into traffic… and waits for a green 🚦 to pick it up!!! (Narrated by Sir David Attenborough)

Almost every Capitolism newsletter from @scottlincicome has a couple “I can’t believe we do things this way” headbangers. This time, on US ports and shipping woes. There’s lots more than just these excerpts, including the obligatory mentions of the Jones Act and union contracts.
