The Legendary Green Metroliner
I first learned about the Metroliner in 2021 during the mid-air collision in Colorado. A Key Lime Air Metroliner collided with an SR22, leaving the fuselage badly damaged, yet it still managed to land safely with everyone surviving. It felt unbelievable that a plane hit like that in the sky could still fly back, and even more incredible that it was later repaired!

Spirit Airlines gets a lot of flack, but I'll be sad to see them go.
In March of 2019, I was a college student with little disposable money. My grandfather's health was failing, and I knew he wouldn't live to see me graduate six weeks later.
Spirit had a last-minute $99 fare Boston to Fort Myers. I didn't tell anyone I was going – I got up at 4 a.m., flew to Florida without any bags, Ubered to his mobile home, surprised him for lunch and made it back to Boston that night for classes.
It was the last time he was able to speak – he died shortly thereafter. I'm so incredibly glad I dropped the $99 – I'll always be thankful Spirit was around to get me there cheap when no other airline would.

For perhaps the last time: No one can afford to cheer for Spirit’s demise.
Their presence forced other carriers to lower fares for years - yes, even AA, Delta & United.
What a sad end to a pioneering airline. Combined with fuel prices, we’re entering a new era of higher fares.
