I’m probably alone here, but I am cheering for BCBS. I’m sure they’ll come to agreement, but family health insurance coverage is $20-25k per year. Vast majority of their costs healthcare. Profit is a small part of insurance. We really need to get costs under control and it starts with hospitals and doctors. We can’t just blame big insurance.

@TonyBuzbee2 I laughed when I heard the new name… I had to take a double take because I wasn’t sure if I missed like a merger announcement or something.

Hard to believe it’s been ten years since I was lead counsel for UH in this case. A federal judge ruled Friday that South Texas College of Law must stop using its new name - displayed on prominent billboards around town - until it resolves a bitter legal dispute with the University of Houston regents. Tony Buzbee, a UH Law Center alumnus and the lead attorney for the team representing UH, said he was pleased and gratified by the court's decision. "The evidence showed overwhelmingly that the name change caused confusion in the marketplace," Buzbee said. "The next step is for South Texas College of Law to remove their billboards, change their website, remove merchandise from stores and change their name in the American Bar Association database. This is a complete victory for the University of Houston and the UH Law Center."

If this judge thinks putting on a black robe is somehow permission to treat people like this, talk down to them, use inappropriate language and make disparaging, comments, he has no business being on the bench. I say that as a former judge with 20 years on the bench. This arrogant behavior is despicable and does not belong in a courtroom...ANYWHERE!

@zundamotisuki I really liked seeing it sink during the Battle of Midway as Admirial Nimitz, Fletcher, and Spruance sunk the Kido Butai led by Admiral Nagumo.

In downtown Houston, an empty lot next to a light rail station becomes 375 housing units... April Fools! TxDOT actually knocked these apartments down to widen a highway. The top image is the after.

@Michaelskywal @the_transit_guy Not only that, but 45 is going to be re-routed so the freeway will no longer encircle all of downtown Houston. It’s literally Houston’s version of the Big Dig and promotes more urban development. (Full disclosure, I still think TXDOT builds way too much freeway,)

Dang its like you are willfully ignoring what TxDOT is trying to do, they are trying to put the entire highway underground to turn it into a park so that residents of eado can easily walk and bike into downtown, driving the ability to build denser apartments and housing. Its literally right here: txdot.gov/nhhip/about/se…

@ZacharyDonnini Pretty much everyone agrees that under strict scrutiny, it fails. Strict scrutiny says if the plaintiff can dream up a less resctrictive approach that has same effect, it fails. Seeing as the law is a blanket ban—even in the rare case where conversion therapy might work—it fails.

A lot of discussion today on Chiles has been a bit misleading as the decision is quite narrow. The Court did not strike down Colorado’s ban, but held that as applied to talk therapy it involves viewpoint-based speech and must face stricter scrutiny.
VoteHub@VoteHub

BREAKING — In Chiles v. Salazar, the Supreme Court of the United States rules 8–1 that Colorado’s ban on conversion therapy is viewpoint-based regulation of speech and should face stricter judicial scrutiny. Ketanji Brown Jackson is the lone dissenter.
