The CAP Team is aware of a video circulating on social media showing a troubling incident involving one of our security vehicles which occurred on 16 March 2026 in a residential area Glensan.
We are deeply distressed by what has occurred.
Our primary concern is for the wellbeing of the woman involved, and we extend our sincere apologies to her and her family during what is undoubtedly a traumatic time.
Senior CAP executives reached out to the family on the day of the incident and have held several conversations since.
CAP is fully committed to supporting them through this process.
As soon as we became aware of this incident, we immediately instituted an internal investigation.
There is no evidence that the incident was intentional - it resulted purely from human error - but due to the severity, the staff member responsible for the incident has been dismissed.
This is not who we are and this incident falls far short of the standards we uphold.
As an organisation entrusted with protecting lives and communities, we are devastated that a careless act by one of our own has caused harm to someone.
CAP deploys hundreds of officers in vehicles every day, who drive millions of kilometers a year to keep communities all over Johannesburg safe.
We have multiple procedures in place to ensure the safety of our people, our external stakeholders, and any member of the public we encounter.
Following this occurrence, we are conducting a thorough review of all our operational protocols and driver conduct policies to ensure that additional lessons are learnt and that any additional safeguards possible are implemented to prevent an incident of this nature from ever happening again.
We deeply regret this incident and remain committed to crime prevention and protecting our communities.

Female Attorney Shot Dead in Broad Daylight Outside Johannesburg CCMA in Suspected Targeted Hit, Gunman Flees Scene Uncaptured
A female attorney was shot dead in broad daylight on Monday morning in what witnesses describe as a targeted attack near the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) in Johannesburg’s CBD. The shooting occurred at the corner of Fox and Joubert streets at approximately 9am.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim had just parked her car and was walking toward the CCMA offices when a man approached her at close range and opened fire. One witness, Pontsho Mahlangu, said the attacker shot her in the head three times, while another reported hearing four gunshots before the suspect fled.
The gunman reportedly escaped on foot before entering a waiting vehicle across the street. Preliminary information suggests the attorney was handling a labour dispute at the CCMA, possibly involving a mining company and workers over retrenchment pay-outs. She was known in the area for assisting with labour-related cases.
Police sealed off the scene for several hours as forensic teams conducted investigations, and the victim’s body was removed shortly after midday. No arrests have been made, and authorities have not yet confirmed her identity as investigations into the killing continue.
