The BBC changed ‘Jew’ to ‘Israeli *forces*’ thereby falsely implying she is speaking of active duty soldiers. This malicious addition completely alters her meaning, and the viewer’s perception of her sentiments will be warped. Furthermore, the word ‘Jihad’, a fight against the enemies of Islam, is changed to ‘fighting and resisting’ thereby completely hiding the religious motivations that would be immediately known if it had been appropriately translated. Language is everything and translation is an art. The goal of translation is to accurately communicate the sentiments of the original speaker (or signer). Translators are ethically bound not to let one’s own feelings or bias impact this pursuit. I will repeat that this is the single worst breach of these professional ethics that I have ever personally seen. In impact this whitewashes violence against Jews to millions of viewers, and it is hard to argue that this wasn’t the deliberate intent.
