You think where you live is bad? Imagine living in the UK where you can be minding your own business having breakfast and somebody just walks up and stabs you in the chest and acts like nothing happened. Part and parcel of British life.
@MartinSLewis I used to pay PMI but they wouldn’t pay out for a procedure because I had back pain 5 years ago.. £72 / month individual plan for nothing
Today's Poll: Do you pay for medical insurance? Either
- Private Medical Insurance (PMI): for private treatment
- Healthcare cashplan: where you claim back cash cost of NHS / private treatment e.g dental, optical, osteopathy
@MartinSLewis Yes: 2015-18. It serves a purpose for getting job roles but never progressed further. Still in same role on same pay bracket SEN TA. The degree was education and SEN at Liverpool Hope

If Trump really wanted to take out the British government he’d offer any Brit under the age of 40 freedom to work in America. Millions would be booking flights by mid week. The government would collapse before Friday.
@marcuschown Try telling that to my mother!! Oh wait you can’t she’s dead! And she died howling in agony and begging for her life to be ended, whilst me and my sisters watched.
In 40 years as a palliative care nurse, my wife has never seen a patient die in agony. Always it has been possible to control their pain. Sometimes, it has taken a while to get the drugs right. But that has always been achieved.
@MarinaPurkiss My mother presented with a perforated bowel. Was given option to operate or pass. Mum chose to pass but took 3-4 days to die….howling in agony and begging to end her suffering and pain beyond comprehension… I support assisted dying bill
I was made aware of a man who had terminal bowel cancer…
He wanted to be allowed to die
But this wasn’t an option
He ended up with a blockage that led to death via hours of faecal vomiting
His wife witnessed it all and now has PTSD
I support the assisted dying bill.
@OfficialRandL My daughter is currently in your medical centre at Leeds fest on an IV, possible infection, and feeling quite distressed and wants to come home. She has been left there awaiting blood tests apparently for the last 2 hours! I would like to collect her now!!
@MartinSLewis My daughter was means tested for hers as is. She was at university in London, 200 miles from home, and no money to feed herself. We could not afford to send her any money and finding a job was difficult She subsequently came home by Christmas…she’s still gutted now
Today's Twitter Poll: Should parental income be included (as it is now) when means testing how much loan/grant under 25yr old students get to live off at university?
- A Pro: Richer parents can afford to & may help fund them, making unlevel playing field without means test
- An Anti: Over 18s are adults, & should be considered on their own merit only. Unfair to link with parents income when they can't force parents to help
Explained to my Mum what a Physician Associate is tonight. She’s broadly very clued up on my life as a Doctor.
“Well there won’t be any at my GP practice”
*proceeds to find 3 working at her practice*
“Why don’t we know about these people? … How do I know who I’m seeing?”
